The Sift
The Sift is a mysterious adventure dimension built around exploration, dangerous creatures, strange artifacts, powerful weapons, and a world shaped by an ancient silence.
Long ago, the Choir sorted souls from silence. Then the First Cantor stole the Choir's song and became the Unsung.
Now a scar of silence known as the Wound is spreading from the Hollow Heart, corrupting the Sift from within.
Your goal is simple:
Enter the Sift. Survive it. Find the Wound. Silence the Unsung.
But getting there is only the beginning.
ENTERING THE SIFT
The entrance to the Sift is hidden inside the depths of an Ancient City.
First, you'll need to face the Warden.
Defeating a Warden gives you a Fractured Lens, which can be combined with an Echo Shard and Amethyst Shard to create the Sift Resonator.
Use the Resonator on the strange reinforced-deepslate gateway in the center of an Ancient City and begin your journey into the Sift.
The gateway itself has its own mechanics, including the ability to seal and unseal it.

CREATURES OF THE SIFT
The Sift has its own ecosystem filled with creatures that have unique behaviors rather than simply copying ordinary Minecraft mobs.
Meet peaceful and neutral creatures such as:
Blubs
Small, easily startled creatures that can be tamed. A tamed Blub may even dig up gifts.
Bramblehorns
Flower-antlered creatures that travel in herds. They can be tamed and ridden, and holding jump allows them to charge a leap.
Canopy Gliders
Flying squirrels that can become useful companions and help turn falls into controlled glides.
Soul Wisps
Strange wisps that can be captured in bottles and used to cure the effects of the Sift's Hush.
And many more creatures inhabit the Sift, including Glimmerfins, Capstriders, Chime Crawlers, and Lanthorn Wends.
But not everything in the Sift is friendly.
DANGEROUS CREATURES
The Sift's hostile creatures each have their own ways of fighting.
Shellbacks can curl into a defensive shell before rolling toward their targets.
Chitterlings become especially dangerous when their prey is already weakened.
Spine Spitters attack from a distance and protect themselves with their shells.
Silt Lurkers hunt beneath the dunes by listening for movement.
Driftrays attack creatures gliding through the sky.
Bogmaws hide in the mud and strike when you get too close.
Veilgars stalk the deep water.
Hushed creatures behave strangely, freezing while watched and moving when you're not looking.
Gnashers hunt in packs, with one attacking while the others circle.
Precentors empower their allies.
Rootcallers attack by erupting roots beneath their targets.
And guarding the Choir Sanctums are the formidable Choir Wardens.
THE HUSH
The Sift has its own environmental danger: the Hush.
While exploring areas such as the Wound, Hollow Heart, or locations affected by seeping soil, your Hush meter gradually increases.
At higher levels, the world itself begins to change.
At 40 Hush, you become Hushed.
At higher levels, the effects become increasingly severe.
Fortunately, there are ways to fight back.
You can reduce Hush using:
-
Bottled Wisps
-
Wardstone
-
The Bloom Totem
-
Hymnal Pages
-
Attuned Pylons
The Sift isn't just dangerous because of its monsters. Sometimes the environment itself is the threat.
RIFTS, SEEP & BLIGHT
An open, unwarded gateway can slowly build pressure in the Overworld.
When that pressure reaches its peak, strange things can begin happening.
Rifts can briefly appear nearby, allowing creatures from the Sift to cross into the Overworld.
Ignore the problem for too long and a Blight Heart may appear.
Destroying it cleanses the surrounding area and provides a Blight Core, which can be used to create Wardstone.
Wardstone helps stop the spread of Seep and protect gateways.
Seal the gateway completely and the pressure stops.
ENCHANTED CREATURES
Not every encounter is the same.
Some hostile Sift creatures can become Enchanted, marked by purple runes swirling around them.
These creatures are considerably stronger, with:
-
More health
-
More armor
-
Increased damage
-
Increased speed
But greater danger comes with greater rewards.
Enchanted creatures can drop extra experience and resonite, with a chance of dropping powerful artifacts such as the Soul Censer, Bloom Totem, or Gloam Horn.
UNIQUE WEAPONS
The Sift contains an arsenal of weapons designed around unique mechanics rather than simple damage upgrades.
Resonant Blade
Every third hit against the same target creates a powerful slash arc and shatter burst that damages nearby enemies.
Hushbane
Deals bonus damage to Hushed creatures and can be used to cleanse seeping soil.
Requiem
An endgame weapon capable of releasing a massive song pillar and shockwave that damages enemies, throws them back, heals and attunes allies, and cleanses the ground.
Maelstrom Maw
The reward for defeating the Leviathan.
Hold the weapon to Inhale, creating a current that drags creatures and items toward you, swallows projectiles, and can even consume weaker mobs.
The more it consumes, the more Pressure it builds.
Release to Spew a powerful water jet. At high Pressure, the attack can leave behind a whirlpool that pulls enemies inward.
Chainreaper
Chains victims together and slows and weakens nearby enemies.
Gravemaul
Pulls nearby enemies toward your target before unleashing a gravity collapse.
Chitin Glaive
Charge the weapon and release it to perform a powerful lunge through enemies.
Packfang
Build Frenzy through rapid attacks and use the accumulated Frenzy to perform a powerful lunge.
Shellbreaker Maul
Charge and slam the ground, creating a cracking shockwave that is especially effective against shelled creatures.
Quillsling
Load spines before firing them. Sneaking allows for a tighter volley.
Shardcaller
Fires a fan of prism shards that shatter on impact, with a focused volley available while sneaking.
Gyreglass
A thrown crystal disc that cuts through enemies before returning to you, even through walls.
Snare Bola
Roots targets in place and can ground flying creatures.
Silt Hook
A grappling hook that lets you reel yourself in, hang from surfaces, and vault upward.
Dirge Bell
Reflects projectiles and staggers enemies. Time it correctly for a perfect parry.
Rootwright Crook
Tears roots from the ground in a line, or creates a burst around you while sneaking.
ARMOR, TOOLS & CHARMS
The Sift also introduces equipment designed around its unique mechanics.
Carapace Armor
Chitin-based armor with a full-set ability that lets you roll through enemies while shrugging off attacks.
Cantor Armor
The strongest armor set found within the Sift.
Silkwing Mantle
A glider with its own movement mechanics. Hold jump while falling, use heat below you to gain lift, and dive or flare by looking down or up.
Resonite Tools
A complete tool set faster than iron.
Echo Pick
Mine an entire ore vein at once, or sneak to mine a single block normally.
Gill Charm
Breathe and swim underwater while revealing Veilgars.
Riftstep Charm
Blink up to 9 blocks toward where you're looking while also preventing fall damage.
Stillbell
Hold it up to make nearby projectiles fall out of the air.
Tuning Fork
Reveal nearby mobs, ores, and Choir Sanctums.
Wound Compass
Track the Wound while inside the Sift, or locate the nearest gateway elsewhere.
Threnody Lodestar
Follow the strange song leading toward a hidden Threnody Vault.
ARTIFACTS & CONSUMABLES
The Sift also contains artifacts with powerful utility effects.
Soul Censer
Collect souls from your kills and release them in a powerful soul burst.
Bloom Totem
Create a magical flower bloom that grants Regeneration II and Attuned to everyone inside for 12 seconds.
Gloam Horn
Release an ancient blast that throws back and slows hostile creatures nearby.
Glowspore Jar
Reveal hostile creatures through walls while slowing them.
Hymnal Pages
Read one to receive one of five different buffs alongside a short period of Attunement.
Bottled Wisp
A reliable way to cure Hush.
Requiem Key
Used to open the mysterious Choir altars.
THE UNSUNG
At the center of the Sift lies the Hollow Heart.
There, the First Cantor waits.
Now known only as the Unsung, it is the source of the silence spreading throughout the dimension.
To challenge it, you'll need to:
-
Explore the Wound.
-
Discover Choir Sanctums.
-
Collect Choir Sigils.
-
Craft Cantor equipment.
-
Create a Requiem Key.
-
Reach the altar inside the Hollow Heart.
-
Face the Unsung.
The battle has multiple phases.
The Unsung can corrupt its Resonance Pylons, fire devastating attacks, teleport around the arena, create silence zones, and unleash powerful Choir Lances.
In its final phase, its mask breaks and it begins charging its devastating Crescendo.
Defeat it to obtain the Unsung Heart, an essential component for completing the Requiem.
THE LEVIATHAN
Far from shore, beneath the dark waters of the Sift's oceans, something enormous waits.
The Leviathan is a ship-sized sea monster with 240 HP that lives only in deep gloamwater.
It cannot simply follow you onto land or into shallow water.
When it rises beneath the surface, the water itself gives you a warning.
Its attacks include:
Lunge
A massive straight charge preceded by the creature opening its enormous jaws.
Breach
A ring appears on the surface before the Leviathan erupts from the water.
Roar
Pulls creatures near the surface toward its mouth before attempting to swallow them.
Whirlpool
The Leviathan circles its target faster and faster beneath a massive vortex, dragging players and boats toward the center before surging upward.
Swallowed
Get caught inside its jaws and you'll have a limited opportunity to fight your way back out.
Defeating the Leviathan rewards the Tidal Core, which is used to forge the Maelstrom Maw.
