SS-21 Quasar 1.6.0 (Fabric)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
SS-21 Quasar v1.6.0
⚠️ Photosensitivity warning: this update adds rapid white-out strobe flashes at beam touchdown and at the final burst. Players who are sensitive to flashing lights should take care.
The quasar's strike now hits like the end of the world. This update overhauls the impact and the cutscene audio and visuals: a much louder, bass-heavy detonation, a ground-shaking touchdown, a far bigger gamma-ray burst, and a camera that shakes as the jet ignites.
⚠️ Performance Warning: Power x3.0
Setting the quasar's power to x3.0 can seriously lag or freeze your PC if it is not powerful enough. This is not a joke.
At x3.0 the strike carves a crater roughly three times wider than the default, and the world has to process far more terrain at once. Weak or older machines, low-RAM setups and servers with limited resources may stutter badly, freeze for a while, or even crash.
- Start with the default power and work your way up.
- Save your world and close other heavy programs before testing high power.
- On servers, make sure the host can handle it before letting players use x3.0.
- If your game lags after the impact, give it time to finish. Do not force-close it mid-strike, or you risk corrupting your world.
- Always back up your world before using x3.0.

What's New
Devastating new impact audio - The strike, gamma-ray burst and jet sounds have been completely rebuilt. Each now layers a deep sub-bass drop, a hard crack, rolling rumble, falling debris and a huge echoing tail, so the impact sounds like a quasar jet hitting the Earth. They are noticeably louder than before, so you may want to lower your volume the first time.
Touchdown shockwave - When the beam slams into the ground, a bright white ring now tears outward across the land, with an instant flash and a hard strobe pulse.
Bigger gamma-ray burst - The final detonation has a larger and longer-lasting white dome, a climbing column of white-hot plasma, two extra trailing shock rings, and a hotter main shock ring, plus a strobing white-out.
Camera rumble in the cutscene - The camera now jolts hard the instant the jet ignites, then shudders through the hyperspace warp.
Visual Polish
- Lightning veins now crawl up the pillar and flare on touchdown.
- The descending beam head is brighter and hotter.
- The crater afterglow burns hotter after the explosion.
- A cinematic vignette frames the cutscene.
- A single bright flash marks the moment of jet ignition.
Notes
- Strobing can be removed by setting
SS21_STROBEto0.0at the top ofss21_world.fshin a resource pack or custom build. - The mod's original impact strobe from 1.5.0 is unchanged.
