The Other Alex 1.1 Update

This update expands Alex's presence with new events, improved world awareness, and deeper multiplayer interactions.

New Mod Integrations

Added new integrations with:

• The Anomaly
• From The Caves

Alex can now interact with more parts of your world and create new situations depending on the mods installed.

Redesigned Sign System

The sign system has been completely redesigned.

Signs are now aware of what has happened in the world. They can recognize whether a player has already encountered Alex or experienced certain events related to her, allowing them to react differently depending on the player's journey.

They should also be more multiplayer aware too.

The One Who Stayed

A new multiplayer-only event.

When a player has interacted a lot during a multiplayer session through voice chat, text chat, or both, something may begin to imitate them.

The One Who Stayed can:

• Understand what players say.
• Copy a player's speaking style.
• Reply through in-game messages.
• Play recorded voice clips from that player (Context aware).

The more a player communicates, the more convincing the imitation becomes.

New Events

The One Among The Trees

A strange player-shaped log can appear near suitable log blocks.

She can crawl too.

Imagine a player exploring a tight tunnel, such as a 1x1 tunnel

When they look back, Alex can be seen rapidly crawling toward them through the tunnel.

Cave Silhouette

Alex may appear as a distant silhouette inside a cave opening, watching the player from afar.

Window Peek

Alex may briefly move past a suitable window, leaving the player questioning what they saw.

The Borrower

A chosen item can disappear from the player's inventory before eventually returning.

The Picture That Wasn't Taken

A hidden perspective photo can be created during an event.

The photo is taken from the perspective of something watching the player, as if another presence was secretly observing them.

The photo can later appear as a painting inside the player's base. If the player has no base, it may appear near their original spawn location.

The Wrong Way

A new event that can occur while a player is mining inside a compressed tunnel (strip mining), such as a 1x2 or 2x2 tunnel.

While mining, the player may hear a cave sound.

If they turn around, they may find Alex staring directly at them before laughing.

When the player turns back to continue mining, a strange sign appears.

Breaking the sign reveals that something is wrong.

As the player continues digging:

• A cave creature begins chasing the player.
• A fake player appears from either the left or right side of the tunnel digging to you.
• An escape tunnel opens on one side of the tunnel.

The player must quickly decide which direction to escape before it is too late.
