The One Who Will Arrive

A psychological horror mod that adds a relentless creature that watches, hunts, and terrifies the player.

The One Who Will Arrive - Psychological Horror Mod

Stalker is a psychological horror mod for Minecraft Forge. It adds a single mysterious creature known only as The Stalker.

This is not a normal monster mod. The Stalker does not immediately appear and attack you like a zombie. Instead, it watches, follows, hides and slowly makes you question whether you are truly alone. The mod focuses on silence, distant sightings, unpredictable encounters and a long buildup before the final chase begins.

The Stalker is always somewhere out there.

The Creature

The Stalker is an unnaturally tall creature, standing approximately 4.5 blocks high. Its body is completely black, with extremely thin limbs, long arms, sharp fingers and two curved horns.

Its most recognizable feature is its pale, cracked face and unnatural smile.

While watching the player, The Stalker usually stands upright and remains almost completely still. When the chase begins, it drops onto all fours and runs with fast, smooth and disturbing animations.

The Stalker is silent most of the time. You will not constantly hear monster noises warning you that it is nearby. Sometimes the only sign of its presence will be a silhouette between the trees—or the feeling that something moved behind you.

The Beginning

When a new world is created, The Stalker secretly appears approximately 300–600 blocks away from the player.

There is no spawn message, boss bar or warning.

From that moment onward, it knows where the player is. It does not naturally despawn and continues tracking the player as they explore, mine and build. During the beginning of the game, however, it avoids directly revealing itself.

It may watch from:

  • Behind trees
  • Distant hills
  • Mountaintops
  • The edge of a forest
  • Heavy fog
  • Outside a window
  • The darkness beyond the player’s torchlight

If the player looks at it for too long, it may suddenly disappear. Some encounters last only a second, making it difficult to know whether something was actually there.

Psychological Horror

The main goal of the mod is to create constant paranoia.

The Stalker does not attack every few minutes. Long periods of silence are intentional. You may continue playing normally for a long time without seeing anything—and then briefly notice a tall black figure standing on a hill.

Rare atmospheric events can occur while The Stalker is following you:

  • Distant footsteps
  • Branches snapping
  • Quiet breathing
  • Low growls
  • A figure running across your vision
  • A silhouette appearing behind a tree
  • Glowing eyes in the darkness
  • A creature looking through your window
  • The Stalker standing behind you when you turn around
  • Sudden loud noises followed by complete silence

Encounters are randomized and intentionally rare. The mod is designed to make every distant shape feel suspicious without constantly using jumpscares.

The House Event

After enough time has passed—or after the player has created and entered their first proper shelter—the main horror sequence can begin.

Block breaking and block placing are temporarily disabled, preventing the player from simply digging away or building an escape route.

A message appears:

“Something found you...”

The Stalker then begins approaching the player.

A distance counter represents how far away it is:

Distance: 400 blocks

The number starts decreasing:

400… 399… 398…

At first, the approach is slow. It gradually becomes faster and more aggressive. Once the creature gets close enough, the distance display becomes a permanent warning on the screen.

While The Stalker is farther than 50 blocks away, the counter may remain hidden. Once it enters the final 50-block range, it stays visible.

Rising Tension

As the distance decreases, random events begin happening around the player.

Lights may flicker. Doors may open. The player may hear footsteps moving around the house, breathing outside a window or the sound of glass breaking somewhere nearby.

Other possible effects include:

  • Music suddenly stopping
  • Increasing darkness
  • Heartbeat sounds
  • Camera shaking
  • Visual distortion
  • Loud noises from another room
  • Breathing becoming closer and louder
  • Doors opening without anyone touching them
  • Window-breaking sounds without actual block damage

The closer The Stalker gets, the stronger these effects become.

The heartbeat speeds up, the screen shake becomes more powerful and the creature’s breathing grows louder. The player cannot stop the countdown by sleeping, hiding or leaving through a tunnel.

The Jumpscare

When The Stalker reaches approximately five blocks, the screen instantly becomes black.

A loud jumpscare sound plays and The Stalker’s cracked, smiling face fills the screen.

Immediately afterward, the player is teleported outside their shelter.

Huge red text appears:

RUN

The stalking phase is over.

The chase has begun.

The Chase

During the chase, The Stalker becomes extremely aggressive.

It drops onto all fours and runs much faster than the player. It always knows the player’s location and uses pathfinding to follow them through difficult terrain.

The creature can:

  • Climb hills
  • Move through water
  • Open doors
  • Navigate around obstacles
  • Break weak blocks when necessary
  • Continue following the player over long distances
  • Suddenly disappear and reappear much closer
  • Switch between walking and running
  • Occasionally scream during the pursuit

Sometimes The Stalker intentionally slows down and walks toward the player instead of immediately attacking. This makes it impossible to predict whether it will continue watching or suddenly begin sprinting.

It is not designed like an ordinary enemy that can simply be forgotten after running far enough away.

Adjustable Zoom

The mod includes a smooth, adjustable zoom system.

Hold Z to zoom in. While holding Z, use the mouse wheel to change the zoom strength:

  • Scroll up to zoom farther in
  • Scroll down to zoom back out

There are multiple zoom levels, allowing you to carefully inspect forests, hills and distant structures.

Zooming can help you spot The Stalker—but sometimes it only helps you realize that it has already been watching you.

Functional Flashlight

Stalker also adds a fully modeled flashlight.

The flashlight can be discovered inside village chests. Its appearance changes depending on whether it is turned on or off, and it is rendered as a three-dimensional item in the inventory and while being held.

Right-click to switch it on or off.

When active, the flashlight projects light in the direction the player is looking. Its default range is approximately 18 blocks, and the range can be adjusted through the configuration file.

The flashlight has a limited battery represented by item durability. Continuous use slowly drains it. It can be repaired with redstone using an anvil.

Temporary light created by the flashlight automatically disappears when the beam moves away, preventing invisible light blocks from remaining throughout the world.

Village Guards

Villages can now be protected by Village Guards.

These guards appear in active villages and work alongside iron golems. They carry crossbows, patrol the village and defend villagers and players against ordinary hostile creatures.

Village Guards:

  • Use crossbows in combat
  • Patrol and remain near their village
  • Protect adult villagers
  • Fight hostile mobs
  • Recognize players, villagers, guards and iron golems as allies
  • Never naturally despawn
  • Scale in number based on the village population

By default, the mod attempts to maintain approximately one guard for every four adult villagers, with a configurable maximum number of guards per village.

The guards can defend villages from zombies and other normal threats—but they cannot save the player from The Stalker.

Emerald Tools and Armor

The mod adds a complete set of emerald equipment.

Emerald tools include:

  • Emerald Sword
  • Emerald Pickaxe
  • Emerald Axe
  • Emerald Shovel
  • Emerald Hoe

Emerald armor includes:

  • Emerald Helmet
  • Emerald Chestplate
  • Emerald Leggings
  • Emerald Boots

All items have normal survival crafting recipes using emeralds and sticks.

Emerald equipment is stronger and more durable than diamond equipment in several areas, with improved enchantability, while still remaining below netherite as the final upgrade tier. The armor provides diamond-level protection with improved durability and a small amount of knockback resistance.

Configuration

The mod includes a configuration file that allows server owners and players to adjust important features.

Configurable options include:

  • Zoom availability
  • Flashlight range
  • Chance of finding a flashlight in village chests
  • Village Guard spawning
  • Number of villagers required per guard
  • Maximum guards per village
  • Stalker events and horror mechanics

This makes the mod suitable for both single-player worlds and multiplayer horror servers.

Multiplayer and Performance

Stalker is designed to work in multiplayer. Important behavior is handled by the server so that encounters, guards, equipment and flashlight mechanics remain synchronized between players.

Performance systems include:

  • Limited village checks
  • Configurable maximum guard counts
  • Automatically removed flashlight illumination
  • Controlled random encounter frequency
  • Optimized entity updates
  • Persistent Stalker and guard data

For multiplayer, the mod should be installed on both the server and every player’s client.

Requirements

  • Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1
  • Minecraft Forge 47.x
  • Java 17

Stalker is made for players who want a slow and unpredictable horror experience. It does not rely on constant attacks. It uses silence, distance and uncertainty to make normal Minecraft exploration feel unsafe.

You may not see The Stalker.

But that does not mean it is not watching.
