You can crush Aluminum, Copper, Chromium, Iron, or Manganese for use in thermite crafting Batteries as fuel

The Metal Works (TMW) sets out to add a bit of a tech feel to Minecraft while keeping the original feel of the game, TWM adds many different natural ores as well as alloys, it currently adds one machine (the Ore Purifier) which allows you to double you ores and create alloys which uses in tools are close if not better than diamond!! There is the oxidizer which runs on water buckets and with a little crafting allows you to make various types of thermite to power your furnace. Also there is the hydraulic press which allows you to crush ores and fabricate diamonds. I recommend you use NEI with this mod as there are a few complicated recipes. Currently I (PissedOffPigman) am the only person working on this mod, however i have a few friend who help test for bugs before releases, TMW is in Alpha, which means that there are still bugs to be worked out, content to be added, and balancing or ore gen and tool durability to be done.
