The Lost Citadel
Discover towering ruins of a forgotten empire.
The Lost Citadel adds rare, sprawling citadels to your world: monumental towers, Roman arch bridges, layered halls, and courtyards reclaimed by vegetation. Its architecture combines the heavy stone forms of brutalism with classical columns and the vertical grandeur of a fantasy imperial city.
Explore the Ruins
- A layered skyline — A massive stepped central keep rises among broad towers, slender spires, and broken stone rings.
- Connected architecture — Roman arch bridges, long stairways, galleries, and colonnades connect buildings across multiple heights.
- Detailed stonework — Recessed walls, vaulted interiors, carved accents, cornices, stairs, and slabs bring depth to the structure.
- Nature reclaiming stone — Moss, soil pockets, tall trees, and winding vines spread through weathered masonry.
- Variation between citadels — The world seed influences tower heights, building arrangements, connections, and weathering, with placement checks constraining the layout.
- Terrain integration — Local foundation and entrance transitions help connect the architecture to its surroundings, with protection for recognized tree logs and foliage.
World Height Requirement
An expanded-height world is required.
The central tower targets a summit between Y=450 and Y=500. A normal vanilla-height Overworld cannot generate these citadels, and The Lost Citadel does not increase world height itself.
For the full height range, use a compatible world-height setup that allows blocks at Y=500 or above. Configure it before generating the chunks where you want citadels to appear.
Finding The Lost Citadel
By default, citadels generate in Plains and Sunflower Plains. They are rare, and terrain suitability checks can reject potential sites, so travel distances vary.
With commands enabled, use:
/locate structure thelostcitadel:citadel
Structures appear in newly generated chunks. Updating the mod does not rebuild existing citadels.
Beta Development
The mod is currently in beta. These are large structures, so generation and rendering performance depend on world settings, render distance, shaders, and your modpack.
When reporting terrain, tree, or building connection issues, please include the mod version, world seed, coordinates, screenshots, and relevant world-generation mods.
