The Hungering Portal

The Hungering Portal turns reaching the End into an event. Lighting the portal frame with eyes of ender is no longer enough — the portal hungers, and won't let anyone through until it's fed.

Formerly released as EndBeast, now rebranded. /endbeast still works as an alias.

How it works

1. Players light an End Portal frame normally — the blocks appear lit.
2. Anyone who steps in is launched back and shown the requirements on screen.
3. The portal must be fed ten specific offerings, thrown into the lit portal:
   • A Trident from the bubbling undead — Trident
   • A block of Nether & Gold forged steel — Netherite Block
   • An egg of a beast long past — Sniffer Egg
   • An Apple glistening with power — Enchanted Golden Apple
   • A hand-held savior — Totem of Undying
   • A Nether Star's gilded prison — Beacon
   • A mace of crushing weight — Mace
   • A compass for the fallen — Recovery Compass
   • A disc of porcine percussion — Pigstep Music Disc
   • A skull from the restless dead — Zombie Head
4. A minimum number of witnesses must take part (default 3 — throw an offering or stand within 16 blocks during one). Set it to 1 for singleplayer.
5. Wait too long between offerings (60s) and the portal loses patience, returning everything thrown so far.
6. Once satisfied, the change is world-wide and permanent — every End Portal works from then on.

Cryptic in-game clues guide players toward each offering, so it plays as a discovery, not a checklist.

Commands

• /thp portalreq — show the requirements (anyone)
• /thp setendplayercount <n> — set the minimum participant count (op)
• /thp reset — re-lock the End so the full ritual is required again (op)
• /endbeast … — legacy alias, still works

• Server-side only — vanilla clients supported. State saved in your world, persistent across restarts.
