The Haunting_ServerSide

Description

The Haunting turns your server into something that watches back. Nothing is announced and nothing is on a schedule. Players just start noticing things are wrong.

What players might run into

• Phantom footsteps behind them, and noises in the distance.
• Doors opening and closing on their own.
• Lights flickering.
• Animals acting strangely.
• Sudden, total silence.
• A figure that watches from a distance, or the feeling that someone is standing right behind them.
• Faint particles where nothing should be.
• Short messages that fit what the player is doing, like being alone underground, in a forest at night, indoors, or waking up. "Don't turn around." "You didn't place that one." "You talk in your sleep."
• The Chaser. On rare occasions, something stops watching and starts running.

How it works

• It targets players who are alone, so the scares usually stop when others are nearby.
• Events are random and spaced out, with cooldowns for each player and for the whole server so it never gets spammy.
• Intensity levels control how often things happen and how far they go.
• Mercy mode. With it on, the Chaser stops short of killing. With it off, it can kill.

Admin tools The /haunt command lets admins turn the haunting on or off, set intensity, toggle mercy, check status, trigger or stop events, reset, and exclude or include specific players.

Config You can tune timing, chances, cooldowns, event weights, and disabled events, and write your own message lines for each situation.

Server-side only. Unmodded clients can join.
