Description
The Fog Is Coming
You have time to prepare. That doesn’t mean you’ll survive.
The Fog Is Coming is a horror-survival mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge. A countdown marks the arrival of an relentless hunter. Gather supplies, build a shelter, and keep your flashlight charged—when the timer reaches zero, the Overworld turns to night.
The Fog hunts, pursues, and breaks through obstacles to reach you. Losing sight of it doesn’t mean you’re safe. It may reposition near a real tree around you and begin hunting again.
Features
- A persistent hunter with animated attacks, obstacle breaking, and aggressive pursuit.
- Destructible shelter: wood and logs take 3.2 seconds to breach; other eligible blocks take 5 seconds. Leaves won’t slow it down.
- Flashlights and batteries with limited charge. Light helps you see through the fog, but it won’t make you invincible.
- Stamina management: sprinting drains 1% per five blocks, jumping costs 3%, and you cannot jump below 10% stamina.
- Under-bed hiding with a first-person view and an optional third-person camera. Stay still, keep quiet, and hope it passes.
- Hallucinations, jumpscares, heartbeat effects, and an atmospheric soundtrack. Not everything you see is real.
- A chance to fight back: dealing 500 cumulative damage stuns the hunter for 3.5 seconds.
- Temporary relief: Friday and Saturday are Fog-free. On Sunday, the threat returns. Weekdays follow Minecraft’s in-game calendar.
- Multiplayer support with server-controlled encounters and synchronized player states.
Operator Commands
/fogsettime <days> <hours> <minutes> <seconds>— set the arrival countdown using Minecraft-time units. Use0for unused units./foghallucination <player>— trigger a harmless hallucination for one player. Only one hallucination can be active per player at a time.
⚠ Important World Warning
Back up your saves. This mod is best experienced in a new, disposable world.
Being killed by the Fog can permanently eliminate your player. With host-ending enabled, the host’s death can permanently lock the world and end the session. The Fog’s block breaking and accelerated leaf decay can also change your terrain and builds.
This version does not delete world files. Its world-ending mechanic uses a persistent lockout, not automatic save-file deletion. A warning appears before entering the standard world-creation screen.
