A skill tree you can get lost in
Remnants | Skills and Powers gives every player a 522-node passive skill tree in six schools of magic, 30 castable abilities and 12 keystones that bend the rules. Plan a path before you spend a point, share your build as a one-line code, then cast from a hotbar of four powers. It works on its own, and links up with Remnants | RPG Player Skills when both are installed.
2.0 "The Remnant Constellation" is a full rework of Elementals. Same mod id, so 1.x worlds and players carry over.

- 522 nodes around a shared central ring: 54 notables, 30 abilities, 12 keystones and hundreds of minor nodes.
- Notable wheels: each branch passes through rings of six themed nodes around a named notable.
- Hybrid bridges join neighbouring schools, with notables that mix both elements: Plasma Arc, Ionized Flame, Black Ice, Permafrost, Overgrowth and more.
- No school is locked. Neighbouring schools are only three nodes apart, so a Pyromancer can reach Stormcalling's keystones.
- 32 stats: vanilla attributes (health, armor, melee damage, speed…) plus ability damage, per-element damage, crit, cooldown reduction, area, duration, lifesteal, Essence, damage reduction, evasion, thorns and more. Vanilla stats are real attribute modifiers, so other mods see them.

Your first point picks an origin: one of the six glowing start nodes on the inner ring. From there, path anywhere.

- Four cast slots on R, Z, B and H (rebindable). New abilities fill empty slots on their own. To choose, click a slot in the tree screen or hover an ability node and press 1 to 4.
- Abilities cost Essence, which refills over time. Your tree raises their damage, crit chance, area, duration and Essence, and lowers their cooldowns.
- Projectiles, beams, zones, dashes, heals, shields and summons from the sky, all drawn with vanilla particles: no resource pack and nothing extra for clients to download.
- Safe by default: abilities never break blocks, never hit teammates or your pets, and leave other players alone unless the server turns PvP on.
- Every cost, cooldown, damage value, radius and duration is in
abilities.json, and any ability can be disabled.

- The ability bar sits right of the hotbar with cooldown sweeps and the key for each slot. A blue tint means you are short on Essence.
- The Essence bar and your Power XP sit just above it, with a reminder when you have skill points to spend.
- Level-up banners and notices appear at the top of the screen.
- Hidden with F1, moves aside for a left-handed offhand slot, and stays clear of the Remnants | RPG Player Skills HUD.

Press I to open the tree.
- Hover any node to light up the cheapest path to it, with its total cost and every stat it grants.
- Click to stage that path. Right-click to stage a refund. Nothing changes until you press Apply (or Enter), and Undo throws the staged changes away. The server applies the whole build at once, or nothing.
- The Stats panel (S) totals your build and shows current → after for every staged change.
- Shift-click to add nodes to a plan you cannot afford yet. Use Plan later stages as much as you can pay for.
- Search (Ctrl+F) any node, stat or keystone and fly straight to it. A minimap jumps anywhere, and the screen fits every GUI scale.

| Keystone |
Effect |
| Pyre Heart |
You take no damage from burning. Your ignites last twice as long. |
| Glass Cannon |
+40% Ability Damage. 25% less Max Health. |
| Conduit |
Every 4th ability you cast costs no Essence and deals double damage. |
| Windborne |
You take no fall damage. +15% Movement Speed. 15% less Armor. |
| Blood Pact |
Abilities cost Health instead of Essence: 1 Health per 10 Essence. +25% Ability Damage. |
| Soul Eater |
Killing an enemy restores 15% of your Max Essence and 2 Health. |
| Eternal Tide |
Essence regenerates twice as fast. 30% less Max Essence. |
| Glacial Bulwark |

| Unyielding |
You cannot be knocked back. +30% Armor. 10% less Movement Speed. |
| Bedrock Will |
Take 15% less damage. Ability cooldowns are 20% longer. |
| Undying Grove |
Once every 5 minutes, a killing blow instead leaves you at 30% Health and roots nearby enemies. |
| Verdant Bloom |
Your healing is 50% stronger. Regenerate 0.5 Health per second. 20% less Ability Damage. |

- Share copies your build as a short code such as
RSP1-BWJpfwwAEgEBAQEBAQEEAQE. Post it in chat, a wiki or a guide.
- Paste a code to import it as a plan. Imports never spend points.
/powers build prints a clickable code for yourself, or for any player if you are an operator.

Install Remnants | RPG Player Skills next to Skills and Powers and they link up on their own. Neither mod requires the other.

RPG level too |
- Retroactive: a player who is already RPG level 30 starts with their 30 points.
- RPG attribute points and tree nodes stack, since both use vanilla attribute modifiers.
- Default keys never overlap: RPG Player Skills uses K, Skills and Powers uses I and R, Z, B, H.
- Choose how they combine with
rpg_player_skills.mode: auto, replace, add or off.

- Power XP from killing mobs (more for tougher mobs, triple for bosses) and from casting. Each Power level is a skill point, up to level 100.
- Remnant Tome: +1 skill point, up to 20 per player. A rare Fire Golem drop, also craftable from an Amethyst Shard, a Diamond, a Book, a Fire Rune and a Water Rune.
- Respec at any time. Refund single nodes for 1 XP level each, or press Reset Tree for 10 levels. A Tome of Unbinding (Book, Ender Pearl and 2 Lapis) resets the whole tree for free.
- Fire Golems roam the Nether Wastes, Crimson Forests and Basalt Deltas, dropping Fire Runes and Magma Cream.

- The server owns the tree. It sends the tree, ability numbers and settings to every client on join, so players never need a config.
- Write your own tree in
skill_tree.json: positions, links, icons, stats, costs and flavor text. Run /powers reload and every online player gets it, with invalid allocations refunded and explained.
- Node requirements and hooks: require a Power or RPG level, and run commands when a node is allocated or refunded.
- Admin commands:
/powers (or /skills) for info, build codes, points, levels, XP, resets, origins, granting nodes, clearing cooldowns, casting any ability and reloading.
- Player data is plain JSON in
<world>/remnants_powers/, written safely.

- Upgrading from Elementals 1.x: players who chose Fire or Water get the Pyromancy or Tidecalling origin for free, plus 3 bonus points per old elemental level. Old spell cooldowns move into
abilities.json.
- Spell books still cast Explosive Orb, Ember Shield and Inferno Wave for Pyromancy players who reach each book's level.
- Fire and Water Runes, element seeds and the Fire Golem spawn egg are in the creative tab.
- No library dependencies. Fabric only needs Fabric API.

- Download the file with your loader and Minecraft version in its name, for example
remnants-skills-and-powers-neoforge-1.21.1-2.0.0.jar.
- Install it on both the server and every client, at the same version.
- Optional: Remnants | RPG Player Skills on the server and clients.
- Updating keeps your configuration values and adds any new options.

Do I need Remnants | RPG Player Skills?
No. On its own, Skills and Powers gives points from Power levels. With RPG Player Skills installed, RPG levels give the points instead (or as well, with mode: add).
Will my Elementals 1.x world break?
No. The mod id is still elementals, so items, Fire Golems and worlds load as before, and players are migrated on their first join.
A key does nothing, or does two things.
Defaults are I, R, Z, B and H, chosen because vanilla binds none of them on any supported version. Rebind them under Controls → Remnants | Skills and Powers.
Can abilities grief or hurt other players?
They never break blocks. They ignore teammates and your pets, and only hit players if the server sets abilities_hurt_players to true.
Can I make my own tree?
Yes. Edit skill_tree.json, set use_custom_tree to true and run /powers reload. A copy of the built-in tree is written to skill_tree.default.json for reference.
