TFC spirits

Addon for terrafirmacraft changing the vanilla monsters into more thematic nature spirits and adding rustic-ish optional magic content

Do you dislike how unfitting vanilla mobs are in the world of TFC when it comes to dark areas? But at the same time do you want to still find use for weapons outside of hunting deer in early game? Do you want the game to also feel like the replaying on ancient civilisation, from stone to steel age, from clay pottery to glassmaking and agriculture? Then you would be interested in this mod adding maybe more grounded but also more developed spirit creatures to the game.

Is this mod as realistic as the rest of TFC by our modern standards? No, its not, but by the standard of people who would be in the technological stage that most of TFC is happening, yes it would be.

This mod adds in total of 12 mobs to the game, a magic system connected to these mobs, polytheistic god worship and bunch of magical equipment that is still immersive in the world of TFC. It adds 4 classes of natural spirits, the spirits of the darkness, the spirits of the light, the spirits of forest and the spirits of caves.

Spirits generally do not drop anything valuable like most mobs, because they are otherworldy entities possessing otherwise inert and not so valuable matter. Sometimes this unconscious matter can be valuable but most of the time its not. However with new item spirit seal their otherworldy spirit can be captured and used for many useful uses, including various crafting recipies, buffs or even early game pre-bed respawn system.

To not spoil much of the mod I will only explain how the first and most common type of spirit somewhat works, the dark spirits or shades. They are spirits posses the very darkness, air and various decaying matter and they spawn commonly at night. While they do range from being dangerous to being a nusance, you can protect yourself with various warding objects to enjoy the night without fear. Salt, Jack-o-lanterns, skull carvings or even crucifixes are enough to protect yourself. There are many types of shades with various strengths and weaknesses, and when exposed to sunlight they dissapear, dissolving back into air and dust.

Everything is documented in an in-game Patchouli guide (part of the TFC Field Guide), with entries that unlock as you meet the creatures they describe.
