Tensura: Gear Evolution 1.2.5

Minecraft 1.21.1 — NeoForge and Fabric

This is a large reliability and compatibility update focused on making gear progression behave consistently across different items, tiers, configurations, and supported mods.

Added

  • NeoForge Curios backpack progression: Supported Traveler's and Sophisticated Backpacks can now gain combat EP and evolve while equipped in a real Curios Back slot.
  • Axe harvesting EP: Supported axes now gain EP from both combat and chopping axe-mineable blocks. The harvesting part is enabled by default and can be turned off without disabling axe combat EP.
  • Automatic gear refreshing: Supported equipment is checked and refreshed when it is equipped, used, loaded after login, or affected by a configuration or datapack change.
  • Repair commands for pack operators: New commands can inspect and safely repair supported held gear or inventory gear without removing unrelated item data.
  • Stronger release checks: Every bundled evolution path and supported optional-mod connection is checked before release to catch missing tiers, backwards paths, loops, and invalid items.

Fixed

  • Fixed Curios backpacks receiving only a tiny amount of EP per kill. They now use the same proper victim-based EP calculation as held gear.
  • Fixed Curios backpacks failing to evolve or replace the correct backpack slot after reaching their EP limit.
  • Prevented duplicate Curios EP when Tensura Neo Otherworld is installed. That mod keeps control of its own backpack EP behavior.
  • Fixed family toggles leaving old EP, evolution targets, stat bonuses, traits, or set effects active after the feature was disabled.
  • Re-enabling a disabled family now gives supported gear one clean set of progression data instead of stacking or duplicating old effects.
  • Fixed existing gear sometimes losing progress or keeping incorrect EP limits after configuration and datapack changes.
  • Fixed mining and combat multipliers being ignored, repeated, or applied more than once in certain situations.
  • Fixed mining EP going above the current item limit.
  • Fixed some weapons and tools choosing an outdated or incorrect evolution target at different tiers.
  • Fixed repeated stat bonuses that could make older weapons or armor much stronger than intended.
  • Added a safe cleanup for older affected gear while preserving names, lore, enchantments, durability, and data from other mods.
  • Fixed evolved Traveler's Backpacks keeping the wrong tier, storage size, upgrade slots, tool slots, or repair behavior.
  • Improved Traveler's Backpack compatibility so themed skins and stored backpack tiers remain correct after evolution.
  • Improved Sophisticated Backpack evolution so its important storage and appearance data stays with the upgraded backpack.
  • Fixed disabled backpack progression continuing to work from stale data.
  • Fixed the Fabric configuration screen so it loads saved values correctly and clearly explains when a restart is required.
  • Improved the wording and layout of both configuration screens so settings are easier to understand from a player's point of view.

Compatibility

  • Updated and checked support for the current compatible Minecraft 1.21.1 releases of Tensura, ManasCore, Architectury, GeckoLib, NeoForge, Fabric Loader, Fabric API, and Cloth Config.
  • Verified progression across low, middle, and high tiers on both loaders.
  • Verified optional support for Traveler's Backpack, Sophisticated Backpacks, Simply Swords, and Ice and Fire CE.
  • Verified Sengoku Jidai weapon progression on Fabric.
  • Sophisticated Backpacks can still continue beyond netherite when Tensura Neo Otherworld is installed.
  • NeoForge Curios support works with real non-cosmetic accessory slots. Fabric backpack progression remains limited to the main hand and off hand.
  • Dedicated-server startup was checked on both NeoForge and Fabric with compatible mod sets.

Notes

  • This update can be added to an existing Minecraft 1.21.1 world. Making a normal backup before changing any modpack is still recommended.
  • Existing supported gear should refresh after login, re-equipping it, using it normally, or running the repair command.
  • NeoForge configuration changes can refresh supported gear in the running game.
  • Some Fabric configuration changes are saved for the next restart.
  • Make sure you download the correct Gear Evolution file for your loader.
  • Players and multiplayer servers should use matching compatible versions of Tensura, ManasCore, and their loader dependencies.

Known Fabric Compatibility Note

The current tensura_neb 2.0.0.3 addon can crash during its own dedicated-server startup before Gear Evolution gameplay loads. If a Fabric server crash points inside that addon, update or remove it and test again. Gear Evolution itself reaches normal server startup with a compatible Fabric mod set.

This update touched a large number of progression paths and compatibility cases. If something still does not gain EP or evolve correctly, please report the exact item, your loader, your mod versions, what happened, and your latest.log when possible.
