TASEWAKAI: Kotodama

Living kingdoms on your claimed land: humans or vampires, armies, workers, caravans.

TASEWAKAI: Kotodama 言霊

Ever claimed some land and thought it felt a bit empty? Kotodama puts a whole town on it. Real people with names, moods, jobs and plenty to say. They chat, joke, eat, argue about who slept in, and get on with their day whether you’re watching or not.

Humans or vampires

When you claim your first chunk (with Open Parties and Claims), you pick who lives there.

Humans work by day, farm, trade and gossip around the fire at night.

Vampires run on the night shift. They sleep through the day, get stronger after dark and heal a bit every time they land a hit. The sun won’t kill them, but it does slow them down. They have their own look, their own names and a very different way of talking.

What’s in it

  • Villagers who actually hang out together: pair chats, group yarns, handshakes, meals, naps, and someone always on night watch.
  • Ashigaru squads of 6 to 15 soldiers who fight in formation: shields at the front, spears behind, archers at the back. The captain gives the orders and only jumps in when it’s going badly. Off duty they spar, train and practise blocking.
  • Miners, lumberjacks and farmers. You choose where the mine and the woodlot go. Lumberjacks fell the whole tree and replant it.
  • Porters who carry the loot home in a chest, so the worker can keep going.
  • Work crews that don’t just stand around. While the miner’s underground, his guards sit down, grab a snack, chat about the job, walk a quick lookout lap or shout down the shaft to ask how much longer.
  • Caravans that head out to trade, and work wagons that haul goods home.
  • A city gate with up to 5 guards. Outside guards watch for trouble, inside guards check your own people as they come and go.
  • Patrol routes you draw on a map. A messenger runs the orders out, the squad salutes and heads off.

Getting started

  1. Claim some land.
  2. Choose humans or vampires.
  3. Press Ctrl+K to open the city panel. That’s where you manage your money, people, army, caravans and gate.

Requirements

  • NeoForge 1.21.1
  • Open Parties and Claims is recommended, since that’s how your land becomes a city. It works without it too, using a command.

Made for the TASEWAKAI server. Have a go and see what your town gets up to.
