[TACZ] Vanguard NPC

Create, equip, and deploy custom combat NPCs with TaCZ weapons. Save your NPC setups as presets and build your own battles.

VANGUARD NPC

Create. Equip. Deploy.

Vanguard NPC is a Minecraft mod focused on creating, equipping, saving, and deploying custom combat NPCs.

Create your own NPCs, equip them with armor and weapons from Timeless and Classics Zero (TaCZ), save their configurations as presets, and deploy them wherever you want.

The mod is designed primarily for Creative mode, giving you a simple way to build combat scenarios, test weapons, create custom battles, or populate your worlds with armed NPCs.

Vanguard NPC is currently in Beta.

The core systems are already available, but several features are still under development. AI behavior, movement, weapon handling, and NPC customization will continue to improve through future updates.

Features

Create Combat NPCs

Use the Spawner NPC to place a basic NPC in your world.

Once spawned, you can interact with the NPC and configure its equipment through its inventory.

NPCs currently have 20 health points and a default 32-block detection range.

These values are currently fixed, but a future configuration system will allow you to change individual NPC parameters directly in-game.

Equip Weapons and Armor

Give your NPCs armor and compatible TaCZ weapons.

Vanguard NPC is designed to work with Timeless and Classics Zero (TaCZ) and its weapon ecosystem.

For example, TaCZ: Juggernaut Armoury has been tested with Vanguard NPC and its armors currently work correctly with the NPC system.

Other TaCZ addons may also work, but compatibility can vary depending on how their weapons are implemented.

Save NPC Presets

Once you have created and equipped an NPC, you can save its configuration as a preset.

Use the Preset NPC while shifting and clicking on it with the right button to save the setup and give it a custom name.

Saved presets allow you to quickly recreate the same NPC without manually configuring its equipment again.

Current Preset Limitation

Presets are currently world-specific.

They are not yet saved as permanent external files that can be transferred between different Minecraft worlds.

This means that a preset created in one world cannot currently be used in another world.

For example, if you create and save a heavily equipped NPC in World A, that NPC preset will not automatically be available in World B.

A future update is planned to improve the preset system and allow presets to be stored and transferred more easily between worlds.

Deploy Your Presets

Use the Preset NPC on a block to access your saved presets.

Choose the configuration you want and deploy the corresponding NPC into the world.

This makes it possible to quickly create multiple NPCs with different equipment and setups.

How to Use

1. Spawn an NPC

Use the Spawner NPC to place a basic NPC in the world.

2. Equip the NPC

Right-click the NPC to open its inventory.

Place armor and a compatible TaCZ weapon inside.

3. Save the NPC

Use the Preset NPC to save the NPC's current configuration.

Give the preset a name so you can easily identify it later.

4. Deploy the Preset

Use the Preset NPC on a block to open the list of your saved presets.

Select the preset you want to use and deploy the NPC.

5. Build Your Battle

Place your NPCs around the world, equip them with different weapons and armor, and create your own combat scenarios.

NPC Parameters

At the moment, NPCs use a few default values that are shared across the system:

  • Health: 20 HP
  • Detection range: 32 blocks

These parameters are currently not configurable on an individual NPC basis.

A future update will introduce a new in-game item designed to configure NPC parameters directly.

The goal is to allow players to customize values such as detection range and other NPC characteristics without needing to modify the mod's files.

For example, instead of every NPC using a 32-block range, you will eventually be able to configure individual NPCs with different ranges depending on the scenario.

Beta Status

Vanguard NPC is currently in active Beta development.

The current version focuses on the core systems needed to create, equip, save, and deploy combat NPCs.

Some systems are still being balanced and improved. This includes NPC movement, accuracy, firing behavior, weapon handling, and AI decision-making.

Some weapon types may also behave differently depending on the weapon or TaCZ addon being used.

The Beta should therefore be considered an early version of the mod rather than the final feature set.

Planned Features

Vanguard NPC is being developed with a larger NPC customization and combat system in mind.

Planned features include:

  • Improved NPC movement
  • More advanced combat AI
  • Weapon-specific behavior
  • Improved accuracy and fire-rate balancing
  • More NPC customization options
  • Individual NPC configuration
  • Customizable health and detection range
  • More advanced combat and tactical behaviors
  • Improved preset storage and portability
  • Additional preset management features

These features will be introduced gradually as development continues.

Bugs and Feedback

Vanguard NPC is still in Beta, so bugs and unexpected behavior may occur.

When reporting a bug, please include:

  • Minecraft version
  • Mod loader and version
  • Vanguard NPC version
  • TaCZ version
  • The TaCZ addon or weapon involved, if applicable
  • A description of the problem
  • Steps to reproduce the issue, if possible

Suggestions and feedback are also welcome.

The Goal

The goal of Vanguard NPC is to make creating custom combat NPCs simple and accessible, especially for Creative players who want to build and experiment with their own combat scenarios.

Create an NPC, equip it with the weapons and armor you want, save it as a preset, and deploy it whenever you need it.

The current Beta provides the foundation for the mod. Future updates will expand the AI, movement, customization, configuration, and preset systems.

Create. Equip. Deploy.
