TaCZ Performance & Polish
4.0 - Gunplay Polish
4.0 is the biggest gunfeel and stability update Performance & Polish has had so far.
The goal is still the same:
Make TaCZ feel better without replacing TaCZ.
What’s New in 4.0
- Reworked recoil with stronger weapon motion and cleaner camera recoil
- Better first-shot feel and more readable automatic fire
- Heavier hipfire movement and weapon bob
- Direction-aware movement for forward, backward, strafe, and diagonal motion
- Improved weapon inertia and landing response
- Smoother ADS transitions
- Much stronger ADS stabilization
- High-magnification optics stay steadier
- Hipfire motion fades out cleanly when entering ADS
- Fixed ADS and sprint fighting each other
- Improved sprint / reload / ADS state handling
- Improved reload interruption and resume behavior
- Safer tube-fed and shell-fed reload tracking
- Better same-gun-instance protection during interrupted reloads
- Safer semi-auto input buffering
- Improved handling priority between firing, ADS, reload, sprint, movement, and idle
- Cleaner shotgun and multi-pellet hit feedback
- Better headshot, armor break, hit, and kill feedback
- Improved weapon-class tuning
- Better effect prioritization during heavy firefights
- Improved tracer, casing, impact, and debris budgeting
- Better compatibility handling for community gunpacks
- Startup compatibility checks for important TaCZ hooks
- Cleaner fallback behavior when an optional TaCZ hook changes
- Quieter release logging
- Config cleanup and better default values
Combat HUD + Readability
4.0 also includes the combat readability work introduced in 3.5:
- Division-inspired hostile health + armor bars
- Aim at a hostile to reveal its health bar
- Hits keep health bars visible briefly
- Red health and segmented armor
- Damage-chip animation
- Headshot feedback
- Built-in kill feed
- Improved hit feedback
- Full in-game config screen
- Presets
- Hover descriptions for config options
- HUD customization
- Better ultrawide and small-GUI-scale support
Built for Heavy Modpacks
Performance & Polish is designed for demanding TaCZ setups using:
- Large gunpacks
- High-RPM automatic weapons
- Shotguns and multi-pellet weapons
- Shaders
- Large hostile encounters
- Embeddium
- Oculus
- Accelerated Rendering
- Heavily modded Forge clients
The mod avoids expensive firing-path behavior such as per-shot full-world scans, repeated gun-data parsing, and uncontrolled cosmetic spam.
Gameplay should never have to wait on cosmetics.
TaCZ Stays in Control
Performance & Polish does not replace TaCZ’s core weapon logic.
TaCZ still controls:
- Damage
- Ammo use
- Hit registration
- Fire rate
- Spread
- Penetration
- Projectile behavior
- Core reload behavior
- Core weapon animations
Performance & Polish focuses on performance, responsiveness, gunfeel, combat readability, presentation, and optional QoL systems.
Compatibility
Required:
Minecraft 1.20.1
Forge
Timeless and Classics Zero (TaCZ)
4.0 supports the TaCZ 1.1.8 hotfix line, including 1.1.8-hotfix2.
Designed to work alongside setups using mods such as:
- TaCZ Expands
- TaCZ EO
- TaCZ Accelerated
- Embeddium
- Oculus
- Accelerated Rendering
- Community gunpacks
- Other HUD and combat mods
Known Incompatibilities
The following TaCZ addons overlap systems already handled by Performance & Polish and should not be used alongside it:
- TaCZ Tweaks
- TaCZ Instant Hit
Running multiple mods that modify the same projectile, hitscan, gunplay, or QoL systems can cause duplicated behavior or conflicts.
If you are upgrading from 3.5, remove those overlapping addons first.
Configuration
4.0 includes a full in-game configuration screen.
Use the defaults, choose a preset, or fine-tune individual systems.
Hover over a setting to see what it actually does.
The default configuration is intended to be the recommended experience.
Minecraft 1.20.1 • Forge • TaCZ
More gunfight. Less hitching.
If you run into a performance regression, reload problem, broken gunpack behavior, or compatibility issue, include your latest.log when reporting it.
