TACZ: 2nd Amendment Add-On

TACZ: 2nd Amendment Add-On is an expanding compatibility project designed to bring the firearms and weapon systems of Timeless and Classics Zero (TACZ) into the hands of NPCs, companions, villagers, and other compatible modded systems.

Minecraft has no shortage of mods adding people, soldiers, companions, settlements, and creatures capable of fighting alongside—or against—the player. Unfortunately, many of them have absolutely no idea what to do when handed a modern firearm.

This add-on aims to change that.

Rather than adding another standalone army of NPCs, TACZ: 2nd Amendment Add-On focuses on connecting TACZ with the mods already populating your world.

Current Compatibility

Minecraft Comes Alive Reborn

The first major integration focuses on MCA Reborn, allowing MCA villagers and guards to recognize and operate TACZ firearms while preserving MCA's existing AI and village systems.

Features include:

• MCA villagers recognizing TACZ firearms

• Guards equipping firearms from their inventories

• TACZ's actual shooting, aiming, reloading, and weapon-handling systems

• Reserve ammunition stored in MCA villagers' inventories

• Proper ammunition consumption while reloading

• TACZ firearms are recognized as ranged weapons by the MCA combat AI

• Existing MCA targeting and guard behavior retained

• Guards approaching, holding position, strafing, and kiting enemies with firearms

• Basic line-of-fire and friendly-fire protection

• Compatibility adjustments are preventing MCA from immediately replacing firearms with bows

The goal is not to replace MCA's combat AI, but to teach it how to use an entirely new category of weapon.

Modern Companions

Modern Companions already contains native TACZ firearm functionality, so the add-on is designed to cooperate with and build upon that support rather than unnecessarily replace it.

Future development may introduce additional interactions, shared behavior, compatibility fixes, and improvements between TACZ, MCA, Modern Companions, and other companion mods.

More Than MCA

MCA is only the beginning.

TACZ: 2nd Amendment Add-On is intended to grow into a broader TACZ compatibility layer for other mods.

Future integrations may include mods that add:

• Human and humanoid NPCs

• Recruitable companions

• Guards and soldiers

• Villages and settlements

• Factions

• Military NPCs

• Vehicles and mounted weapons

• Defensive structures

• Custom combat AI

• Other systems where TACZ firearms make sense

Exactly which mods receive support will grow alongside development and community interest.

Development may eventually include:

• Improved firearm-specific combat AI

• Automatic and burst-fire behavior

• Weapon-specific engagement distances

• Sniper AI

• Shotgun close-range behavior

• Sidearms and secondary weapons

• Weapon switching

• Better friendly-fire avoidance

• Profession and NPC-class weapon preferences

• Configurable firearm restrictions

• Improved animations and firearm posing

• Support for mounted or vehicle-based weapons

• Additional TACZ gun-pack compatibility

• Additional NPC and companion mod integrations

The long-term goal is to provide a common compatibility layer rather than reinvent firearm support separately for every mod.

Requirements may change depending on which integrations are enabled in future releases.

Why?

Because if an NPC can defend a village from a zombie invasion, patrol the wilderness, follow you into another dimension, raise a family, manage an inventory, and hold a sword...

...it can probably figure out which end of the rifle points toward the zombie.
