Tabletop Whetstone
Adds a small whetstone block. Right-click it while holding a tool or weapon in your main hand to give that item the Honed buff.
Effects
- Swords, axes, tridents and maces: +1.5 attack damage
- Pickaxes, axes, shovels and hoes: +20% mining speed on blocks the tool is effective against
- Axes get both bonuses
Duration
The buff lasts for 200 uses or 5 minutes, whichever comes first.
- One use = one attack that hits an entity, or one block broken
- Sweep attacks count as a single use no matter how many mobs they hit
- The timer runs on world time, so it keeps counting while the item is in a chest
Using the whetstone on an item that is already honed resets it to 200 uses and 5 minutes. Honing does not cost durability.
Tooltip and messages
A honed item shows a line like "Honed: 187 uses, 4:12 left" in its tooltip, and the damage bonus appears in the normal attribute section. A message appears above the hotbar when the buff runs out.
Crafting
- Top row: Flint in the middle
- Middle row: Stick, Leather, Stick
- Bottom row: 3 Polished Deepslate Slabs
The recipe unlocks when you pick up flint. In Creative mode it's in the Functional Blocks tab.
Notes
- The buff is stored on the item, not as an enchantment, so it works alongside Sharpness and Efficiency.
- The block needs a pickaxe to drop when broken.
