What's new

Version 1.2.0 fixes four bugs and adds hostile-mob fighting. Here's everything that changed since 1.1.0:

Multiplayer targeting

  • The T-800 now attacks any eligible player, not just the one it locked onto first (usually whoever spawned it).
  • A new setting, targeting.playerPolicy, controls how it picks:
    • NEAREST_PLAYER (default): switches to a player who's clearly closer, by more than 6 blocks, so it doesn't flip back and forth between two players.
    • ALL_PLAYERS: weighs every player by distance, whether it can see them, and who hit it recently.
    • RETAIN_TARGET: keeps its current target until that target becomes invalid.
  • A player who hits it takes over if they're closer than the current target.
  • If its target dies, logs out, goes into Creative or changes dimension, it switches to another player online nearby instead of waiting.
  • New settings: attackPlayers and retargetIntervalTicks.

Building in and over water

  • Moves and steps now count as finished while swimming. Before, they waited to be on solid ground and timed out in water.
  • In water with nothing underfoot, it fills the water under itself up from the bottom, up to 6 blocks deep.
  • It climbs out of the water before bridging, so bridges sit on the surface instead of underwater.
  • It no longer tries to pillar straight up while floating.
  • Long crossings carry on in 24-block stretches instead of counting as a failure.
  • maxBridgeLength default went from 10 to 24, and the maximum from 32 to 64.

Long-distance pursuit

  • The area it keeps loaded around itself grew from 5×5 to 9×9 chunks, with the middle 5×5 active. With the old size it froze and was unloaded at the first chunk border once no player was nearby.
  • It now starts keeping that area loaded the moment a hunt begins.
  • When stuck far from its target, it heads for a nearby waypoint instead of the target's far-off position.
  • It no longer asks for routes into unloaded terrain; it waits and tries again.

Hostile mobs

  • Mobs attack it: zombies, skeletons, creepers, and spiders at night now treat the T-800 as a target after players. It still can't be killed by them. Setting: hostileMobsTargetT800.
  • It hunts mobs: a new fighting state for hostile mobs within 16 blocks, using melee and the TACZ shotgun if installed. It never targets animals, villagers, golems or armor stands.
  • While a player target is around it ignores mobs, except one attacking it within 4 blocks. Afterwards it goes back to the same player.
  • New settings: attackHostileMobs, playerPriority and hostileEngageRange.

Visuals: it holds its combat stance while fighting mobs, and its eyes glow at full brightness then.

Testing and build

  • 13 new automated tests in T800FixTests, plus a longer test arena. All 48 tests pass with and without TACZ.
  • Several older tests now isolate themselves from the shotgun and from natural mobs in the test world, so they still check what they were written for.
  • New build option -PtestNamespaces to run a single test group while debugging.
  • README updated with the multiplayer behaviour, water handling, chunk loading, hostile mobs, the new settings, test results and known limits.
