When a Comparator is hooked up to a Display Panel, it will emit a signal that is inversely proportional to the max stack size of the contained item or block.
Display Panels are a block entity added by the mod that work in a similar way to item frames, but being a block, they can be stood on, interacted with using hoppers, and have other neat redstone capabilities.
