Sword Qi
Official Description and User Manual
Standalone Release: 0.7.0 Beta7 - Triple Control / Dual Ultimates
Minecraft 1.21.11 - Fabric
You are not following the rules of this world. In this world, you are the rules themselves.
Host God Core - Make the host the one true god of the world.
The Overworld is yours to command. All things are yours to judge.
Welcome to the God Authority Group - Sword Qi Division.
Language Notice
This initial release of Sword Qi uses Simplified Chinese for its in-game text and interface messages.
An English-language version is already in preparation and will be released as soon as possible, most likely later tonight or by tomorrow morning.
The gameplay systems and core functionality are the same; this upcoming update will primarily provide English in-game text for international players.
Thank you for your patience.
Optional Recommendation - YDM's Weapon Master
For a cooler visual experience, I recommend using YDM's Weapon Master together with Sword Qi.
YDM's Weapon Master makes equipped and hotbar weapons visible on the player's character, which works especially well with Sword Qi's combat style and makes dual-wielding and weapon-based attacks look much more dramatic.
This mod is completely optional. Sword Qi does not require YDM's Weapon Master to function.
For Minecraft 1.21.11 Fabric, YDM's Weapon Master currently provides a compatible Fabric version.

1. What Is Sword Qi?
Sword Qi is the standalone sword-combat division of the God Authority Group. It transforms Minecraft sword combat from short-range vanilla melee into a visible, directional, long-range combat system built around flying Sword Qi.
The system is not intended to behave like a normal sword with an extra particle effect. For supported swords, Sword Qi becomes the primary combat interaction.
Sword attacks can travel far beyond normal melee reach, strike multiple targets, interact with terrain, change shape, scale with enchantments, and - on the Netherite Sword - switch between multiple control systems and dual-wield ultimate attacks.
The standalone Sword Qi branch predates its later integration into Host God Core and is released here as its own combat module.
2. Core Combat Behavior
When a supported sword is used with Sword Qi:
- the normal vanilla left-click sword attack is replaced by Sword Qi behavior;
- attacks are projected outward rather than being limited to normal melee reach;
- the attack direction follows the player's crosshair and viewing direction;
- Sword Qi is visually represented while travelling;
- different forms can change the angle, width, coverage, and battlefield role of the attack;
- certain Sword Qi attacks can damage terrain as well as entities.
Sword Qi is therefore the sword's combat system, not merely an additional effect attached to vanilla melee combat.
3. Aiming
Sword Qi follows the player's viewing direction.
Where you aim is where the Sword Qi goes.
Small changes in pitch or yaw can create large changes in the final position of a long-range attack. For distant targets, aim first and attack second.
4. Netherite Sword - Three Control Modes
The Netherite Sword contains the most advanced normal Sword Qi control system in this release.
It has three selectable control modes:
- Quick Switch
- Free Control
- Rotating Combo
These modes change how normal Sword Qi forms are selected and released.
5. Switching Between Control Modes
To change the Netherite Sword control mode:
- Hold a Netherite Sword in the main hand.
- Keep the offhand empty.
- Aim at the air.
Then use:
Sneak + Right Click
Each use cycles through:
Quick Switch -> Free Control -> Rotating Combo -> Quick Switch
The selected mode determines how the left and right mouse buttons behave during normal single-sword combat.
6. Normal Sword Qi Forms
The normal Sword Qi forms are arranged in the following order:
- Horizontal Slash
- Vertical Slash
- Left Diagonal Slash (+45 degrees)
- Right Diagonal Slash (-45 degrees)
- Cross Slash (+)
- X Slash
- Eight-Direction Slash / Rice-Shaped Slash
The final form creates a multi-directional pattern that attacks across several directions at once.
7. Mode I - Quick Switch
Quick Switch is the full manual-selection mode. It gives direct access to all seven normal Sword Qi forms.
|
Control |
Function |
|
Sneak + Left Click |
Select the next Sword Qi form. |
|
Left Click |
Release the currently selected Sword Qi form. |
Selection order:
Horizontal -> Vertical -> Left Diagonal -> Right Diagonal -> Cross (+) -> X -> Eight-Direction -> Horizontal
Quick Switch is best when you want complete manual control over every normal form.
8. Mode II - Free Control
Free Control separates the five basic directional attacks from the two larger multi-directional attacks.
|
Control |
Function |
|
Sneak + Left Click |
Cycle through the first five forms only. |
|
Left Click |
Release the currently selected basic form. |
|
Right Click |
Access the X Slash / Eight-Direction attack system. |
The five-form left-click cycle is:
Horizontal -> Vertical -> Left Diagonal -> Right Diagonal -> Cross (+) -> Horizontal
Free Control is useful when you want precise directional attacks while keeping the larger X-shaped and multi-directional attacks immediately available.
9. Mode III - Rotating Combo
Rotating Combo is designed for continuous combat. The system automatically advances through the first five Sword Qi forms.
|
Control |
Function |
|
Left Click repeatedly |
Release the current form and automatically advance to the next one. |
|
Right Click |
Access the X Slash / Eight-Direction attack system. |
Automatic left-click cycle:
Horizontal -> Vertical -> Left Diagonal -> Right Diagonal -> Cross (+) -> Horizontal
This mode removes the need to manually select a new basic form between every strike and is intended for flowing combat.
10. Dual-Wield Netherite Sword Ultimates
Holding a Netherite Sword in both the main hand and the offhand activates a separate ultimate-control layer.
While dual-wielding two Netherite Swords, the normal three-mode single-sword controls are overridden by the dual-wield ultimates.
10.1 Left Click - Azure-Silver Chaotic Afterglow
Control: Left Click while dual-wielding two Netherite Swords.
Azure-Silver Chaotic Afterglow is a large-scale battlefield-clearing attack that releases approximately 50 full Sword Qi waves in dense batches.
It is intended to overwhelm a wide combat area rather than behave like a normal single sword strike.
10.2 Right Click - Moon Breathing, Fourteenth Form
Control: Right Click while dual-wielding two Netherite Swords.
Moon Breathing, Fourteenth Form: Catastrophe, Tenman Crescent Moon releases approximately 42 small curved blade-like Sword Qi attacks with a dark-purple visual style.
The attack also produces major environmental destruction around its effective area, including an approximately 24-block spherical clearing effect.
Do not test this ultimate beside builds or terrain that you intend to keep.
11. Sword Filling System
Sword Qi also contains a filling system that can load certain swords with specific materials and unlock special road-building or terrain effects.
Basic filling control:
|
Control |
Function |
|
Main Hand |
Hold the sword that you want to fill. |
|
Offhand |
Hold the required filling material. |
|
Right Click |
Apply the current filling material to the sword. |
Multi-stage fills advance through visible progress states such as Unfilled, 1/3, 2/3, and Filled.
Use the materials in the required order. A filling material is not interchangeable with a visually similar item.
11.1 Wooden Sword - Forest Avenue
The Wooden Sword uses a three-stage fill:
- Stage 1: Cherry Planks
- Stage 2: Oak Planks
- Stage 3: Cherry Leaves
After the full sequence is completed, the sword can access the Forest Avenue road-building effect.
11.2 Stone Sword - Mixed Avenue
The Stone Sword uses a three-stage fill:
- Stage 1: Cobblestone
- Stage 2: Stone
- Stage 3: Ender Pearl
After the full sequence is completed, the sword can access the Mixed Avenue road-building effect.
11.3 Copper Sword - Redstone Rail Avenue
Required filling material:
- Redstone Block
The required item is a Redstone Block, not Redstone Dust.
The filled Copper Sword accesses the Redstone Rail Avenue system, designed as a true straight-line road / rail route that can continue across changes in terrain height rather than acting as a simple decorative strip.
11.4 Iron Sword - Glacier / Permafrost Avenue
Required filling material:
- Blue Ice
The filled Iron Sword accesses the cold-region Glacier / Permafrost Avenue effect.
12. Sword Qi and Vanilla Enchantments
Sword Qi reads several vanilla sword enchantments and uses them as part of the actual projectile / attack behavior.
|
Enchantment |
Sword Qi Effect |
|
Sharpness |
Increases Sword Qi damage. |
|
Smite |
Improves damage against applicable undead targets. |
|
Bane of Arthropods |
Improves damage against applicable arthropod targets. |
|
Knockback |
Adds additional knockback to Sword Qi hits. |
|
Fire Aspect |
Allows applicable Sword Qi hits to apply fire. |
|
Sweeping Edge |
Increases the width of Sword Qi. |
12.1 Sweeping Edge Width Scaling
- No Sweeping Edge: approximately 24 blocks
- Sweeping Edge I: approximately 28 blocks
- Sweeping Edge II: approximately 32 blocks
- Sweeping Edge III: approximately 36 blocks
Because of this linkage, two otherwise identical swords can produce visibly different Sword Qi behavior depending on enchantments.
13. Terrain Interaction
Sword Qi is not limited to entity damage.
Certain normal Sword Qi attacks can interact directly with blocks and terrain. Standard Sword Qi retains an environmental influence radius of approximately 7 blocks around its affected path, depending on the attack and current implementation.
Higher-level attacks - especially dual-wield ultimates - can create much larger destructive effects.
Back up important worlds before testing destructive Sword Qi near buildings, redstone systems, landscaped terrain, or other structures that you want to preserve.

15. Current Release Notes and Limitations
This is an actively developed combat system. Sword Qi deliberately pushes Minecraft sword behavior beyond normal melee combat, so visual, performance, terrain, compatibility, or multiplayer edge cases may still exist.
- Large Sword Qi attacks may cause temporary performance drops on lower-performance systems.
- Destructive attacks can permanently alter terrain.
- Some interactions may behave differently when other combat or item-control mods are installed.
- The strongest attacks are intentionally not balanced like ordinary vanilla PvP weapons.
Future Sword Qi updates may continue to refine particles, performance, destructive behavior, controls, and compatibility.
Credits, Inspiration, and Attribution
The original concept of Sword Qi was inspired in part by the following YouTube video:
Video Title: 《我就不信直接發射劍氣還打不贏PVP?》
Creator / Channel: 认真猫
Platform: YouTube
Original Video URL:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhmAcfLSwtQ
The video provided important conceptual inspiration for several foundational ideas used during the early development of Sword Qi, including:
- the core concept of transforming ordinary Minecraft sword attacks into projected Sword Qi;
- the use of water and lava as sword-filling materials;
- the concept of linking vanilla enchantments with Sword Qi behavior, allowing enchantments to affect the resulting Sword Qi attack rather than functioning only as ordinary vanilla sword bonuses;
- several basic Sword Qi attack directions and forms, including the Horizontal Slash, Left Diagonal Slash, and Right Diagonal Slash.
These concepts served as an important starting point for the project.
Sword Qi - God Authority Group was subsequently expanded into a substantially larger and independently developed combat system.
The current project extends beyond the original inspirations with features including:
- additional Sword Qi forms developed for this project, including the Vertical Slash, Cross Slash (+), X Slash, and Eight-Direction / Rice-Shaped Slash;
- unique Sword Qi colors, characteristics, and special abilities for different swords;
- a greatly expanded relationship between vanilla enchantments and Sword Qi behavior;
- additional filling materials and expanded filling systems;
- three independent Netherite Sword control modes;
- manual Sword Qi form selection;
- automatic rotating-combo controls;
- dual-wield Netherite Sword ultimate attacks;
- sword-specific special abilities;
- expanded terrain interaction and destruction;
- additional combat, visual, and control mechanics developed specifically for this project.
The video above is therefore credited as an important source of conceptual inspiration for the original Sword Qi concept and several early mechanics and attack forms.
The current version of Sword Qi - God Authority Group represents a substantially expanded and independently developed implementation that builds upon and extends far beyond those initial inspirations.
Special thanks to 认真猫 for the original inspiration.
