What's new
Swing Beat Guitar — 0.5.67-prototype
Changes since 0.5.65-prototype, combining the final changes from 0.5.66 and 0.5.67.
New Unique Special: Bottleneck
- Added Bottleneck to the Advanced and Applied Electric Guitars.
- Hold left-click to spin the guitar counterclockwise after a 0.3-second windup. Release to stop; the move ends automatically after 10 seconds, including the windup. Short taps perform normal attacks.
- Rotation speed matches the guitar’s effective attack speed in revolutions per second, including upgrade and demonic bonuses.
- Each enemy can be hit once per revolution within the standard 3.5-block melee reach.
- Successful hits increase damage from 1.1× on the first hit to 2.8× on the tenth, relative to the first normal combo strike. The multiplier resets when the move ends.
- Synchronized rotation timing across hit detection and first-person and third-person animations.
- Balance and visual effects remain provisional.
Names and Tooltips
- Renamed the heavy-attack Unique Special to Power Chord and the flying-slash Unique Special to Economy. Existing behavior and saved IDs are preserved.
- Guitar tooltips now display US: [Unique Special] directly below the item name, followed by AA: [Additive Ability]. Unassigned entries are hidden.
Automatic Default Guitar Updates
- Added version tracking through
SBG/default/meta.json. Outdated bundled guitar JSON files now update automatically at startup, including installations without version metadata. - Existing files are backed up under
SBG/backups/default/before replacement. - Manual edits to bundled guitar JSON files are replaced during version updates, with previous contents preserved in the backup. Edits remain intact when restarting the same version.
- Custom JSON files with different filenames, additional ZIP packs, models, textures, other settings, and existing item data are preserved.
Updating
Replace the mod JAR with 0.5.67-prototype and restart Minecraft. Bottleneck’s default assignments update automatically; manual JSON edits are no longer required.
For multiplayer, use matching mod versions, guitar definitions, and additional packs on the server and all clients.
