Bring your own companion into the world of Minecraft!

Support Steve adds an independent NPC companion who can follow you, protect you from hostile mobs, gather resources, and perform various jobs.

Steve is more than just a follower. He has his own inventory, equipment, tasks, and work system. Whether you need a loyal guard, a dedicated miner, a farmer, or a production worker, Steve is ready to help.

Features

Companion & Combat System

• Summon your own Steve companion.

• Steve follows and protects his owner.

• Automatically fights hostile mobs and retaliates when attacked.

• Helps defend the owner against nearby threats.

• Equips the best available armor and weapons from his inventory.

• Eats food from his inventory when his health is low.

• Collects dropped items.

Job System

Interact with Steve and use the radial menu to assign jobs:

• Farmer: Harvests mature crops and replants seeds.

• Guard: Patrols and protects designated areas.

• Production: Chops trees, mines stone and ores, and handles basic resource processing.

• Miner: Searches for selected ores and follows connected ore veins.

• Escort: Protects and accompanies the owner or another Steve.

• Stay / Sit: Remains at the assigned location.

Jobs can be assigned without creating a work zone. By default, Steve can work within a 16-block radius.

Advanced Mining

Steve can do more than simply mine nearby blocks!

• Select which ores Steve should search for.

• Supported filters include Coal, Iron, Copper, Gold, Redstone, Lapis Lazuli, Diamond, Emerald, and Stone.

• Mines 1x2 tunnels.

• Searches nearby for matching ores.

• Follows connected ore veins, up to 32 blocks.

• Automatically selects suitable tools.

Inventory & Equipment

Every Steve has his own inventory:

• 27 backpack slots.

• 4 armor slots.

• Main-hand and off-hand equipment.

• Automatically equips suitable armor and weapons.

• Inventory and character data are saved.

Tip: Shift + Right-click Steve to open his inventory.

Remote Calling & Navigation

Lost your Steve? Call him back!

• Press H to call Steve.

• Use /supportsteve come to request a return.

• Call the Steve you're looking at or all your companions.

• Steve uses waypoint navigation and obstacle handling to reach you.

• Owner-following behavior includes teleportation when the distance becomes too large.

• Remote calls can be handled even when a Steve is in an unloaded chunk.

Work Areas & Protection

Use the Area Wand to define work and guard areas.

• Set area corners.

• Configure zone types.

• Visualize selected areas.

• Assign Steves to work or patrol designated locations.

• Manage selected areas with the Area Wand interface.

HUD & Interface

• View nearby Steve's name and health.

• See his current job and status.

• Use the radial menu to manage tasks.

• View status indicators such as travelling, escorting, paused, and guarding.

• Hide the HUD with F1.

Reset System

Having problems with Steve's behavior or want to restart his current tasks?

Use the Reset option in the radial menu's Jobs section.

• Clears temporary AI states and active tasks.

• Resets the current job and assigned post.

• Clears temporary AI memory.

• Returns Steve to following his owner.

• Keeps his inventory, level, and name.

Summoning Steve

You can summon Steve using a command or a craftable Summoning Orb.

Summoning Orb Recipe:

• 3 Amethyst Shards

• 4 Iron Ingots

• 1 Emerald

• 1 Glass

The Summoning Orb has a 30-second cooldown.

Commands:

• /supportsteve summon

• /supportsteve list

• /supportsteve call

• /supportsteve remove

• /supportsteve rename

• /supportsteve come

Keybind:

• H: Remotely call your Steve companions.

Current Development Status

Support Steve is currently under active development!

This mod is still being developed, improved, and optimized. New features, AI behaviors, and gameplay systems are continuously being worked on.

• Some features may be incomplete or experimental.

• NPC AI may occasionally behave unexpectedly.

• Pathfinding and navigation may not always work perfectly.

• Bugs and performance issues may occur.

• Features and mechanics may change in future updates.
