Description
Environmentally friendly torches
Ever looked at your beautifully-built base at high noon and thought... why are all these torches blazing in broad daylight? It looks unnatural, and frankly, it's a bit wasteful!
Sunset Torch fixes that. Place a torch and it behaves the way a torch should:
- Blazes at night: full flame, full light, keeping mobs at bay
- Burns down to a dim ember in daylight: no need to blaze when the sun's doing the work
- Reignites reliably as dusk falls, before darkness lets anything spawn near your base
- Flares back up in storms, when the daylight level drops
It adds a little realism touch and yes, turning the torches down during the day is, technically, very energy-efficient! Do your bit for your Minecraft world environment...
How it works
The torch reads the actual daylight reaching it. If it's placed out in the open, or tucked under an eave in a sunny courtyard, it dims. If it's placed deep in a windowless mineshaft or a dark room, it always stays lit. When night falls, storms roll in, or you head underground, the Sunset Torch is safely ablaze, exactly as the original torch is. It works on floors and walls, just like a normal torch.
Crafting
Available from your very first day, just like the existing torch: 1 coal or charcoal + 1 stick (side by side) creates 4 Sunset Torches. Craft them, place them, and they behave exactly like the original torch, but with the dimming feature.
Notes
- Minecraft 26.3, Fabric
- Requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API
- Torches relight promptly and reliably at dusk, so your base stays protected through the transition.
