## Summon Guard

A small addon for Iron’s Spells ’n Spellbooks that makes player-owned summons protect their owner and choose appropriate targets.

I created this mod for my own gameplay and decided to share it with others.

### Features

- Summons protect their owner against attackers.
- They also attack targets damaged by their owner.
- The latest successful attack by or against the owner selects the current target.
- Prevents attacks on the owner and uninvolved players.
- Removes Darkness from summoned Wardens while preserving normal wild Warden behavior.
- Supports both legacy summon ownership and the newer SummonManager system.

### Downloads and requirements

Choose the file matching your Minecraft version and mod loader:

- Minecraft 1.19.2 — Forge, Java 17.
- Minecraft 1.20.1 — Forge, Java 17.
- Minecraft 1.21.1 — NeoForge, Java 21.

Requires Iron’s Spells ’n Spellbooks and its dependencies for your Minecraft version. Compatibility is no longer restricted to Iron’s Spells 3.16.3. Future API changes and individual addon compatibility may still require updates.

Deeper and Darker: Spellbooks is optional and only needed for its summoned Warden, on versions where that addon is available.

### Installation

Install the matching JAR in your mods folder for singleplayer, or on the server for multiplayer. Clients do not need this addon when it is installed on the server. Remove the previous Summon Guard JAR before updating. Install only one version of Summon Guard.

Target selection requires actual damage. Environmental damage without an identifiable living attacker does not select a defensive target.
