Structure Rewind Watch

Turn back the watch hands, and restore the structures here to their original state.
Can a ruin you've already explored be experienced for the first time again?
The Structure Rewind Watch lets you reawaken ancient structures in the world. Hold the watch and right-click inside or near a structure; a golden clock face unfolds, and its two hands rotate backward. Amid alternating light and darkness, the damaged structure takes shape again, and chests and mechanisms once again await adventurers.
One Watch, Revisit Bygone Ruins
- Right-click to Rewind Structures: By default, it finds the nearest allowed structure at your position or within 10 blocks nearby, and restores the entire structure rather than only the 10-block area.
- Structure, Chest, and Mechanism Restoration: Replays the building according to the structure's original generation rules, regenerating the corresponding loot and mechanisms.
- Structure Entity Restoration: Supports restoring entities saved in the template and resetting matching structure entities. Players and owned/tamed mobs are protected.
- Time-Reversal Effects: Golden-white clock face, reversing hands, ring-shaped glow, and black-screen transition. By default, players within 64 blocks of the structure will see the effect together.
- 20-minute cooldown: After a successful restoration, the item enters vanilla item cooldown. Server operators with permission level 2 or above can bypass the cooldown.
The hands keep rotating while waiting for the structure to restore, then fade out once it is complete. In singleplayer, when the game is truly paused, the animation and fade-out also pause; on multiplayer servers, they do not pause because a local menu is opened. The normal HUD is hidden during the effect, but the pause menu remains fully usable.
Rewind Inhibitor: Guard Places That Should Not Be Rewritten
Don't want a place to be rewound by the watch? Place a Rewind Inhibitor.
It has a golden frame around a transparent center, with a watch floating inside and slowly rotating. By default, within its 100-block radius, all players are unable to activate the watch, including the placer and operators. Only the placer or server operators can remove it; it can also resist explosions, entity destruction, and piston movement.
The inhibitor uses a block entity to update the suppression status of nearby players once per second, without scanning all blocks in the world. It only remains active while its chunk is running normally and will not force-load its chunk on its own; entering its range has up to about 1 second of detection delay, while leaving the range or removing it immediately lifts the restriction.
Note: The inhibitor restricts whether players can use the watch; it does not claim the entire building as territory. When a player stands outside the range, they may still select a large structure extending into the range; the inhibitor itself will not be overwritten by structure rewind.
Configuration for Modpacks and Servers
Adjustable cooldown time, structure search distance, effect range for nearby players, inhibitor radius, and number of restored chunks per tick. Supports regex whitelist and blacklist for structure IDs, with the blacklist taking priority; you can also choose to only restore missing entities without resetting matching entities that already exist.
Only one structure rewind task is executed at a time to control server load. If no allowed structure is found, no cooldown is consumed.
Obtaining
Obtain it from the "Tools & Utilities" tab in Creative mode, or use the commands:
/give @s structure_rewind_watch:structure_rewind_watch
/give @s structure_rewind_watch:rewind_inhibitor
There is currently no default crafting recipe; modpack authors can arrange their own acquisition methods.
Before Rewinding
This is a replay of structure generation rules, not a historical save rollback of the entire area. Positions written by the generation rules will be restored, and player builds and item container contents at those positions may also be overwritten; positions not written by the generator will not be automatically cleared.
The watch recognizes world-generated structures with structure records in the save. Ordinary hand-built structures, some dungeon features, and buildings made only by placing blocks with commands but without structure records may not be selectable. Special structures from third-party mods, scripted NPCs, quest states, and custom entity spawning logic may require additional adaptation and cannot be guaranteed to be fully restored.
Operator cooldown bypass does not bypass whitelists/blacklists, inhibitors, or task exclusivity. The cooldown follows vanilla game tick rules; offline timing and persistence are not additionally implemented. It is recommended to first confirm the restoration effects of important structures in your modpack in a test save.
