Structure Encyclopedia

Explore the world, unlock its ruins, and fill a leather-bound tome of discovery. Structure Encyclopedia turns structure visits into encyclopedia pages — lore, description, mobs, and notable loot — presented in a book-style GUI.

How to play

Craft the Structure Encyclopedia (or grab it from the creative tab).
Open it with the item or the keybind.
Explore — when you enter a catalogued structure, an action-bar message confirms the unlock.
Return to the book to read the page.

For datapack & mod authors

Entries are ordinary datapack JSON. Anything under data/<namespace>/structure_encyclopedia/*.json is loaded on the server and synced to clients.

Adding a new structure

Create a new JSON file. The structure field must be the exact registry ID (from /locate structure or the structure registry), for example minecraft:desert_pyramid or yourmod:cool_dungeon.

Field reference

Field	Required	Notes
`structure`	Yes	Registry ID. One encyclopedia page per ID.
`icon`	Yes	Item ID shown in the index and detail header.
`lore` / `description`	Yes	Translation keys (add strings in a language file).
`sort_order`	No	Default `0`. Lower values appear first in the index.
`mobs`	No	Entity type IDs.
`loot_items`	No	Item IDs for the “notable loot” icon row.
`loot_tables`	No	Optional metadata (loot table IDs).
`tags`	No	Freeform labels for your own organization.

Optional display name override (resource pack / mod lang file):

If that key is missing, the client falls back to the vanilla structure.<namespace>.<path> translation.

Overriding an existing entry

Pages are unique by structure ID — the book never shows two pages for the same structure.

Recommended: replace the same resource path as the entry you want to change. Example — override this mod’s fortress page by shipping:
data/structureencyclopedia/structure_encyclopedia/fortress.json
in a datapack or mod jar that loads after Structure Encyclopedia. Minecraft keeps only the winning file for that path.
Also valid: a different filename that still sets "structure": "minecraft:fortress". The loader keeps one entry per structure ID (you may see a duplicate warning in the log). Prefer same-path replaces when pack order matters.
