What's new

StreamCraft Live v0.21.0 — A new look, window sharing, and Forge 1.20.1

This update rolls up everything since v0.19.22. Every StreamCraft screen is rebuilt on one clean design, you can share a single window instead of your whole screen (and hide Minecraft from a screen share), and StreamCraft now runs on MinecraftForge for Minecraft 1.20.1.

A new look for every StreamCraft screen

The menus are rebuilt on one flat, dark design with a violet accent. Everything is easier to find, works with the keyboard and the narrator, and follows Minecraft's High Contrast option. The narrator also tells you when you go live and when you stop.

Press ' (apostrophe) to open the hub. It floats over your game, with a sidebar that has everything in one place:

  • Live: your camera and screen share, with LIVE status and viewer count at the top.
  • Voice: microphone, input and output devices, noise suppression and echo cancellation, and a searchable volume slider for every player.
  • Streaming: share to the web (with a Copy link button), your vanity URL, and streaming to YouTube, which used to be spread across separate screens.
  • Settings: every setting with a one-line description and a search box. New: Theme (Auto, Standard, High contrast) and Reduce motion.
  • Support and How it works.

On small windows or high GUI scales, the sidebar becomes a page picker at the top. Dialogs such as the terms, the screen-share source picker and trial requests open as a panel over the hub, so you never lose your place.

Turning on your camera or starting a screen share no longer freezes the menu while your device starts up. The button reads Enabling… until it's ready, so a second click can't switch it straight back off.

Display Block settings are docked. Right-click a Display Block and its settings open as a panel on the right of your screen. The world stays visible (and single player no longer pauses), so each change shows on the block as you make it. Size, position and offsets use − / + steppers, and holding Shift still nudges by 1 pixel. The Source list starts with None, so you can also unhook a block from a stream.

HUD. The LIVE, MIC and GESTURE indicators are small labelled plates that follow your text background opacity setting. LIVE shows how many players are watching, and your camera preview has a thin frame. F1 now hides StreamCraft's HUD along with the rest of the interface.

Config button in the mods list. StreamCraft has a config button in Mod Menu (Fabric) and in the NeoForge and Forge mods screen. It opens the hub on Settings, even from the title screen.

Share a window

You can share one window instead of your whole screen, the same choice every video call app gives you.

  • On the Live page, Source opens a list: Entire Screen for each of your monitors, then every open window with its title and app. Share screen is still one click and shares your primary monitor unless you chose something else.
  • Switch while live. Change the source during a share and viewers see the new one within a moment, with no stop and restart. The Live page shows what is going out for as long as the share runs.
  • If the window you are sharing closes, StreamCraft tells you in chat and falls back to your primary screen, so the stream never goes dark. Minimize it and viewers keep the last picture until you bring it back.
  • A still window reaches viewers sharp from the start. A share spends its first few seconds bringing the picture up to full resolution, and again whenever you switch sources.
  • Windows: captured through Windows Graphics Capture, the same engine as Game Bar; the stream follows a resized window. The yellow capture border is gone for window and whole-monitor shares alike. Games in exclusive fullscreen capture black (borderless fullscreen is fine).
  • macOS: captured with ScreenCaptureKit. Choosing a second display now works; before, it always shared display 1.
  • Linux: your desktop's own share dialog picks a screen or a window, and picking a single window now works. The picker's Choose in system dialog… row makes the dialog open again on the next share, and closing the shared window ends the share cleanly.

The choice of source resets each time you launch the game. A window share looks exactly like a screen share to every viewer, so it needs nothing new on their side.

Hide your Minecraft window

Sharing your whole screen used to mean sharing Minecraft along with it, and a Display Block showing your own feed mirrored itself forever. In Source, turn on Hide my Minecraft window and the game drops out of the share: viewers see whatever is behind it on your desktop. It works while you are live, and your stream never drops.

  • It appears only for an Entire Screen source, on Windows and macOS. It is off by default.
  • With it on, run Minecraft windowed. If the game covers the screen you share, hiding it hides nearly the whole share, and the picker warns you when it spots this.

Forge support (Minecraft 1.20.1)

If your server or modpack runs Forge 47.x on Minecraft 1.20.1, pick the file named streamcraft-0.21.0+mc1.20.1-forge for your platform. It runs on Forge 47.1 and newer, and on NeoForge's 1.20.1 line (47.1.x), so one file covers both loaders on that Minecraft version. Webcam, screen share on Display Blocks, proximity voice, licensing and trials all behave as on Fabric and NeoForge.

  • Forge is offered for 1.20.1 only. Every later Minecraft version already has a NeoForge download.
  • Everyone on a 1.20.1 server should use the same loader's file. A Fabric 1.20.1 client on a Forge 1.20.1 StreamCraft server (or the other way round) can still join, but only as plain Minecraft: StreamCraft says "Server did not respond — mod may not be installed" and its features stay off.
  • The Fabric 1.20.1 build was reworked inside to share code with the Forge build. Nothing changes for Fabric players.

Fixes

  • On Minecraft 26.1 and 26.2, turning off your camera now turns off the webcam too. Before, your stream stopped, but the camera light stayed on until you closed the game.
  • macOS: a screen share your Mac blocks no longer goes live. Without Screen Recording permission, the Live page now says your system blocked screen recording, with a Retry button, instead of showing you LIVE with nothing behind it.
  • macOS: allowing Screen Recording while you play no longer closes the game. When macOS restarted your launcher after you allowed the permission, the next screen share could shut Minecraft down.
  • Closing a shared window no longer freezes the share on Windows; it falls back to your primary screen as intended. A window that was already minimized when you started sharing now says "minimized" in chat rather than "closed".
  • Starting a screen share no longer publishes the same track twice (the source of track already published errors in the log).
  • Servers respect the licensing service's rate limit, instead of retrying session reports over and over when a session is busy.

Known issues

  • Windows, rare: the game closed once, straight after a screen share was stopped (1 of about 30 stops in testing). We are working on it.
  • macOS: the very first time you turn on your mic, macOS asks for permission and StreamCraft gives up before you answer. After you allow it, turn the mic on once more.
  • Windows: OBS Virtual Camera can't be picked as your camera yet.
  • Two players sharing desktop audio at each other hear it loop. A share with desktop audio records everything your computer plays, including the other player's stream. If you both share desktop audio near each other's screens, turn Desktop audio off on one side.
  • On NeoForge 1.21.11, 26.1 and 26.2, voice chat runs without echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto-gain. Voice still works; use headphones to avoid echo.
  • On 1.21.9–1.21.11 and 26.x, Block Glow can still hide water behind it.
  • On 1.21.6–1.21.11 your own Display Block preview may show letterbox bars that viewers do not see.
  • Some players reported the screen looking dimmer on Minecraft 26.2. Testing on Windows found 26.2 as bright as other versions under both OpenGL and Vulkan. If you still see it, tell us your GPU and OS on Discord.

Certified builds

Every build in this release was tested on 2026-09-11 to 2026-09-13 on a Windows PC and an Apple Silicon Mac joined to the same server: join, the hub and every page, camera in both directions, a screen share across machines, voice, and a clean stop. All 20 passed. Window sharing, Hide my Minecraft window (under OpenGL and Vulkan), Forge voice, the keyboard and narrator, and mixed 0.19.22 / 0.21.0 servers and clients were checked by hand.

Compatibility

  • Every Fabric version from 1.20.1 through 26.2, every NeoForge version from 1.20.6 through 26.2, and Forge 1.20.1, each in five files: Windows (no suffix), -linux, -linux-aarch64, -macos-arm64, -macos-x86_64. NeoForge 26.2 is published as a beta, matching NeoForge upstream.
  • Fabric and NeoForge clients can share the same server. On 1.20.1, use the same loader's file as the server.
  • All native code is bundled in the JAR. macOS 13 or newer for screen and system-audio capture.

Upgrading

  • No network changes: a 0.21.0 client works with 0.19.22 servers and the other way round. Settings and licences carry over.
  • Run the same version on server and client to get every fix.
  • macOS: reinstall the mod rather than swapping only the jar. The native Mac component inside it is updated.
