Stow Companion 1.0.5+mc26.3
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Stow 1.0.5 for Minecraft 26.3
Stow 1.0.5 helps you organize shared storage. Containers can carry storage owner labels, the storage list has an Owner filter, and Claim area lets you label older storage by flying a free camera over it. The release also adds a compact storage list with container icons, moves the material list so it no longer covers your status effects, and includes a broad performance pass, shulker memory fixes, a new equipment HUD order and a Mouse Tweaks Shift-drag fix.
Companion needed: storage owner labels and Claim area need the updated Stow Companion 1.0.5 on the server, or installed locally in single-player. Everything else in this release works with the Stow client alone.
New
Storage owner labels and Owner filter (companion)
- With the 1.0.5 companion, newly placed chests, trapped chests, barrels and shulker boxes are labeled with the player who placed them. Labels are saved with the container on the server, survive restarts and disappear when the container is removed. If you pick up a shulker and place it again, it is labeled with the new placer.
- The storage list and the project storage-selection list show each container's owner: a player name, Shared, Unclaimed or Mixed (a double chest whose halves have different owners).
- A new Owner filter cycles through Everyone, Mine, Shared, Unclaimed, Mixed and individual players. It only changes which cards you see; project totals and the All/None controls still cover the whole project.
- To label older storage, open it and use its card's Rename → Storage owner controls: claim unclaimed storage, mark it Shared, or restore its player label. Only the labeling player or an operator can change an existing label. You need to keep the container open and stay within eight blocks.
- Existing storage starts as Unclaimed; opening a container does not claim it.
- Ender chests, minecarts and modded storage are not labeled.
- Labels help you organize. They do not lock containers, grant access or share remembered contents with other players.
- Without the updated companion, Stow keeps working normally and shows labels you have already seen, but you can't edit them.
Claim area with a free camera (companion)
- Storage → Claim area → Fly and select corners labels older unclaimed storage as yours, so you don't need to break and replace it.
- Your character stays where it is while a local free camera flies: W/A/S/D to move, Space to rise, Shift to descend and Ctrl to go faster. Left-click two opposite block corners, right-click to reset them, Enter to review and Escape to leave without claiming.
- The camera stays within loaded terrain up to 64 blocks from your character on each axis. Camera mode ends if your character moves more than four blocks, and it also ends on disconnect or world change.
- Review the selected box and press Claim unassigned storage in this box. The companion checks up to 262,144 block positions in small batches and visits only chunks that are already loaded.
- Only fully unclaimed chests, trapped chests, barrels and shulker boxes are claimed. Containers that already have an owner or a Shared label are always skipped, even for operators. Double chests count only when both halves are inside the box and unclaimed. Locked containers and unloaded positions are skipped.
- If you cancel, containers already claimed stay claimed. Moving more than eight blocks from where the scan started, changing dimension or disconnecting stops the scan.
- Claims set a label. They can't tell who originally placed a container, and they don't reveal the contents of containers you haven't opened.
Compact storage list
- Storage cards are denser and use up to three columns when there is room, so you can see more containers at once. Names, owner, coordinates, item previews, inclusion, glow, rename and forget controls all stay available. All 1,000 remembered containers are still reachable.
- Chests, double chests and barrels now show their own icon next to the shulker icons, in the storage list, in search and in project storage selection.
- Shulker cards use the box's dye color for the icon, accent and a light tint. Undyed boxes and older entries with an unknown color use a neutral purple style until you reopen or place them.
Fixes
- Status effects no longer covered: in the player inventory, the floating material list now starts below your potion and status-effect cards, including with the recipe book open. It returns to its normal place when the effects end. In tight layouts you can still scroll the list or use the Materials button. Other containers keep their current layout.
- Shulker memory: picking up or moving a shulker no longer leaves stale entries or duplicates its items in your material totals. Removed boxes disappear from memory, and old positions are cleaned up when their chunks load. A box you place is remembered from its known contents once the server confirms the placement, so you don't need to reopen it. A rare case where a newly placed shulker was dropped before confirmation is also fixed. Identical boxes in different places stay separate.
- Mouse Tweaks Shift-drag fix: with Mouse Tweaks installed, Shift-drag could move every item you crossed and ignore Stow's Matching filter. Now Shift + left-drag moves matching items in Matching and Both modes, and Ctrl + Shift + left-drag moves all crossed items in Both mode. Bundle drags work too. Mouse Tweaks' other gestures and scroll-wheel actions keep working, and Mouse Tweaks is still optional.
- Inventory toolbar: the toolbar and tracker buttons now move with the inventory as soon as the recipe book opens, closes or animates.
- Text fields: Stow's text fields now use a blinking vertical cursor instead of an underscore. Other mods' text fields are unchanged.
Changes
- Equipment HUD order: the HUD now lists equipment in hotbar order from left to right, then armor from helmet to boots, instead of sorting by remaining durability. Low-durability filtering, colors and the percentage setting stay the same. The detailed Equipment Watch screen still sorts by durability.
Performance
- Fixed lag reported in inventory menus and during normal play.
- Storage totals, source ages and nearest-source lookups no longer rescan every remembered item for each material. Goal and HUD lists are rebuilt only when a project or storage changes.
- The inventory toolbar, Smart Deposit previews and HUD rows reuse their results for up to 50 ms instead of recalculating every frame. Counts can lag a change by about one game tick, but clicks always use your current inventory.
- Searches, imports, storage previews, tool refill, bulk stripping and saving all repeat less work.
- Owner labels and the Owner filter are cached. They add no per-frame ownership checks or network polling.
- Limits stay the same: 1,000 remembered containers, 1,024 goals per project and 16 projects.
Install and update
- Client: Minecraft 26.3, Java 25+, Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3 and Cloth Config 26.3.159+. Mod Menu 21.0.0 is optional. Replace your old Stow JAR. Mouse Wheelie is still incompatible.
- Server (optional): to use storage owner labels and Claim area, update the server to Stow Companion 1.0.5. Instant trades, fast chest sorting and connected-log harvesting also need the companion. In single-player, put both JARs in your mods folder.
- Your projects, chest memory, goals and settings carry over. No settings changes or data migration are needed.
- Stow was tested in an isolated client and server. Compatibility with individual modpacks, dedicated servers and protection mods has not been checked yet. Please report problems on GitHub.
