# SGJourney Mobs
**SGJourney Mobs is an expansion for Stargate Journey that transforms the Stargate network into a living, dangerous galaxy filled with hostile factions, escalating raids, powerful bosses, new destinations, advanced technology, quests, and story-driven progression.**
Stargate Journey builds the gate network. SGJourney Mobs gives that network something to do.
Instead of simply adding creatures that wander around the Overworld, SGJourney Mobs is built around the Stargate itself. Enemies can arrive through active wormholes, System Lords react to the player's actions, worlds remember who controls them, and an ordinary gate activation can become the beginning of a raid, boss encounter, transmission, discovery, or new chapter in the campaign.
> Every trip through the Stargate should feel like the beginning of an episode.
## A Living Galaxy
At the center of the mod is the **Galaxy Director**, a persistent campaign system that tracks the state of the galaxy across the life of a world.
- Factions, planets, bosses, System Lords, discoveries, ownership, and scheduled events are stored persistently.
- Goa'uld campaigns react to the player instead of behaving like isolated random encounters.
- Defeating troops and disrupting a System Lord's forces increases that enemy's hatred of the player.
- Increasing threat produces progressively stronger retaliation raids.
- Worlds can have owners, assigned bosses, liberation states, and lasting campaign consequences.
- Atmospheric incoming wormholes and other scheduled events make the Stargate network feel active even when a full attack does not occur.
Ra and Apophis have their own campaign presence. Discovering important worlds can draw their attention, while continued resistance causes them to deploy increasingly dangerous forces. At the highest threat levels, the System Lords themselves may enter the fight.
## Stargate Raids
Hostile forces do not simply materialize beside the player. SGJourney Mobs uses Stargate Journey's real gates, addresses, wormholes, kawoosh, iris state, power systems, and remote dimensions to stage incoming attacks.
- Enemies dial in from another world and deploy through an active Stargate.
- Raids scale through multiple threat tiers.
- Later waves introduce stronger Jaffa, elite guards, First Primes, and System Lords.
- Remote source gates and chunks are handled so offworld deployments can occur reliably.
- Deployment respects a closed iris, allowing a properly defended base to stop incoming troops.
- Raid, campaign, territory, and debugging commands are included for testing and administration.
The result is a raid system designed specifically for Stargate gameplay: alarms, an unexpected incoming wormhole, uncertainty about what is coming through, and only seconds to prepare.
## Enemies, Bosses, and Combat
SGJourney Mobs adds a growing roster of Stargate-inspired enemies with custom equipment, weapons, attacks, and combat roles.
Current major enemies and characters include:
- System Lords, including **Ra** and **Apophis**
- **First Primes**
- **Kull Warriors**
- **Serpent Guards** and **Elite Serpent Guards**
- **Horus Guards** and **Anubis Guards**
- **Sokar Jaffa**
- **Wraith**
- **Ori Priors** with multiple power tiers
- **The Doci**
- **Adria, the Orici**
- **Darrel the Dragon**
Bosses are designed as encounters rather than oversized ordinary mobs. Ra can survive a lethal blow and reveal his false-god form in a second phase. The Doci combines devastating Prior abilities with summoned guards. Adria progresses through three distinct phases—Orici, armored, and ascended—and uses teleportation, shields, telekinetic attacks, summoned Priors, fire, and battlefield-control abilities.
Priors use powers such as telekinetic push and crush, life drain, fire attacks, and other tier-based abilities. Ranged enemies use custom projectiles and weapon behavior, while elite units fill distinct roles within raids and boss encounters.
## Custom Equipment and Weapons
The mod includes a custom OBJ equipment and weapon-rendering system built for detailed Stargate armor that would not be possible with ordinary Minecraft models.
- Multi-part, multi-texture OBJ armor
- Proper body-part anchoring and animation
- Support for differently scaled entities
- Dynamic mob equipment
- Player-compatible armor foundations
- Left- and right-handed weapon rendering
- Multiple weapon hold styles
- Detailed Kull armor and other faction-specific equipment
- Custom weapons and projectiles, including the Wraith staff blast
This system allows armored enemies to retain detailed helmets, chest pieces, limbs, boots, and weapons while moving naturally with their Minecraft entity models.
## Stargate Technology
SGJourney Mobs expands the practical technology available around a player-built Stargate base.
### RF Iris
The **RF Iris** is an energy-powered defensive iris designed to integrate with Stargate Journey's existing gate and power mechanics. It draws energy while operating and can prevent hostile arrivals when sufficient power is available, adding a meaningful resource cost to base defense.
### Tau'ri Ring Panel
The custom **Tau'ri Ring Panel** includes:
- A custom graphical interface
- Editable destination labels
- Crafting and creative-mode support
- JEI integration
### Incoming Events and Messages
The event framework supports atmospheric gate activations, transmissions, Easter eggs such as **Comtrya**, and the foundation for intelligence and story messages delivered through the Stargate network.
## New Worlds and Adventures
The mod expands the list of places that can be reached through Stargate Journey rather than replacing its dimension system.
- **Celestis** brings the Ori storyline to a dedicated world centered on its cathedral Stargate destination.
- **Camelot** provides a dedicated Stargate destination for the Sangraal storyline and the battle with Darrel the Dragon.
- Bosses and campaign encounters are tied to destinations and story progression instead of being treated as random overworld spawns.
These worlds are designed to behave as genuine Stargate destinations with addresses and working Stargates, keeping travel through the gate at the center of the experience.
## Progression, Quests, and Advancements
SGJourney Mobs includes progression hooks for both guided play and long-running campaign worlds.
- FTB Quests integration for a **Stargate Program** quest line
- Progression beginning with archaeology and the discovery of the first Stargate
- Advancement support for raids, atmospheric incoming wormholes, messages, discoveries, threat levels, territory changes, System Lord addresses, the RF Iris, the Tau'ri Ring Panel, and other major milestones
- Campaign state and discoveries that persist instead of resetting after each encounter
## Optional Mod Integrations
### MineColonies
When MineColonies is installed, players can construct the **Ring of the Gods**, a custom colony building based around a functional offworld-style Stargate pedestal. MineColonies handles the colony construction while the gate remains a real Stargate Journey gate. MineColonies is optional and is not required to use the rest of SGJourney Mobs.
### Productive Bees
Optional Productive Bees compatibility expands naquadah-related progression with the **Naquadah Bee** and **Pure Naquadah Bee**, providing another way to integrate Stargate resources into a larger modpack economy.
## Built to Expand Stargate Journey
SGJourney Mobs is a companion mod, not a replacement for Stargate Journey. Whenever possible, it uses Stargate Journey's native Stargates, wormholes, addresses, transport rings, messages, energy systems, irises, and worlds. The goal is to build on the original mod's universe while adding the enemies, consequences, missions, and campaign systems that make that universe feel alive.
Whether you are defending Earth from a Goa'uld retaliation raid, fighting through an Ori boss encounter, building a protected Stargate facility, exploring a new address, or watching an unexplained wormhole activate with no idea what is coming through, SGJourney Mobs is designed to make every gate activation matter.
## Requirements
- Minecraft **1.21.1**
- NeoForge
- **Stargate Journey**
Some integrations require their corresponding mods, but MineColonies and Productive Bees are optional.
