Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Meteor Shower
- Players who arrive after the cast now see the shower at the correct moment instead of replaying it from the beginning.
- The visible range now follows your render distance (up to 576 blocks) instead of a fixed 256 blocks.
- Meteors now fade out in fog instead of being drawn on top of it.
- Two showers cast on the same spot no longer overwrite each other on screen.
Black Hole
- Visible from up to 512 blocks (was 64). Distant players also see the explosion flash now.
- Code refactored: the black hole is now its own entity instead of a Dragon Survival projectile, with the same damage numbers.
Star Cubes
- Removed a redundant position sync: placing or breaking a cube no longer sends anything to other players.
Performance
- Black hole debris is drawn in a single batch with distance culling.
- The lensing screen copy is no longer recreated every frame.
- Black holes farther than 160 blocks skip the lensing pass.
Balance
- Meteor Shower damage: 250 (+50/level) -> 25 (+5/level)
- Star Laser damage: 30 (+10) -> 9 (+3)
- Starbound Projection damage: 20 (+10) -> 8 (+2)
- Stellar Breath damage: 30 (+10) -> 9 (+3)
- Stardust Armor duration: 1200 (+400) -> 600 (+200) ticks; cooldown: 300 -> 1000 ticks
- Gravitational Field: attack damage +10 (+20) -> +2 (+2); attack speed +10 (+20) -> +0.5 (+0.5); dragon ability damage +0.5 (+0.5) -> +0.1 (+0.1)
- Starlight summons: damage over time 10 (+5) -> 4 (+1); explosion damage 20 (+10) -> 10 (+3)
- Glowing: attack damage per level +10 -> +1
- Star cubes: starlight bonus per nearby cube 0.05 -> 0.1. It is applied after the sky and weather multipliers, so it is the only way to keep starlight up at noon. Tuned so 5 cubes stop the decay, 6 start recovering and 10 reach full starlight even at noon.
