What's new
Squishlings 1.3.0 - Batch Compacting
NEW
- Your tamed Squishling is now a little living compactor! Drop items next
to it (within about 3 blocks) and it slurps them up, chews, and spits
them back out as blocks:
9 iron ingots -> 1 iron block, 9 diamonds -> 1 diamond block,
9 wheat -> 1 hay bale, and so on.
- Drop as much as you like: several stacks and several different items
are all handled in one go. It waits about a second after the last item
lands, so stacks you drop one after another are eaten together.
Example: 320 iron ingots -> 35 iron blocks, and 5 ingots stay on the
ground.
- Only full sets are eaten - leftovers are never taken.
- It only makes blocks that can be crafted back into the same items, using
your game's own recipes - so modded items and data packs work too, and
nothing gets "stuck" as something you can't undo.
- Plain items only: anything enchanted, renamed or damaged is left alone.
- Only items YOU (the owner) drop. Items from other players, from mobs or
from someone dying are ignored.
- Watch the items drift into your Squishling, see it chew, and enjoy the
little pop as each stack of blocks comes back out (a few stacks per
second, to keep things smooth).
- Works in Follow, Sit and Wander mode (not while you're carrying it).
- Nothing is ever lost: if you pick your Squishling up or it dies while
chewing, you get everything back on the spot (your original items if it
hadn't finished chewing, otherwise the blocks). If the area unloads or
the world closes, it keeps them safe and gives them back as soon as it's
back.
NEW SETTINGS
- config/squishlings-common.toml, new [compacting] section:
enabled - turn the feature on or off (default: true)
maxItemsPerBatch - most items eaten at once (default: 3456)
waitSeconds - wait after the last item lands (default: 1)
chewSecondsCap - longest chewing time (default: 5)
fourItemCompaction - also compact 2x2 recipes such as quartz
(default: false)
blocklist - items never to compact, e.g. ["minecraft:wheat"]
TIP
- Magnet items (like a backpack magnet upgrade) may pull your drops back
to you before your Squishling can eat them - take it off while feeding.
COMPATIBILITY
- Safe to update: existing worlds, tamed Squishlings and your config files
are kept. New settings are added to your config files automatically.
- Still Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47+, GeckoLib 4.8.3+. Install on both the
client and the server.
