Soundtrack Selector is a client-side Minecraft mod that gives you direct control over the music available in your game.
Instead of relying entirely on Minecraft's default soundtrack behavior, Soundtrack Selector scans available audio resources, identifies long-form tracks, and gives you a modern music-player style interface for managing what plays.
Features
- Discovers vanilla and modded music automatically
- Filters out audio that is 10 seconds or shorter
- Separates likely music from other long-form audio
- Enable or disable individual tracks
- Search and sort the music library
- Create and manage saved playlists
- Play tracks directly from the library
- Double-click a track to start playback
- Pause, resume, stop, and skip tracks
- Loop playlists, enabled by default
- Random playback order with no repeats within the same pass
- Optional alphabetical playback order
- Displays now-playing information and track progress
- Saves playlists and preferences between restarts
- Preserves settings for temporarily missing resources or mods
- Supports resource reloads without rebuilding the catalog continuously
Soundtrack Selector works with both Minecraft's own music and compatible tracks added by mods or resource packs. Unusually named long-form sounds that cannot be confidently identified as music remain available through the Long Audio library instead of being discarded.
The mod is designed to remain lightweight during normal gameplay. Audio discovery and duration detection are cached, and OGG duration is determined without fully decoding tracks.
Client-side only. Servers do not need Soundtrack Selector installed.
