Description
Souls Death
A Dark Souls-inspired death mechanic for Minecraft — die, and your gear waits for you, not the void.
What it does
Tired of losing your inventory to lava, mobs, or a stray creeper while your items scatter and despawn before you can get back to them? Souls Death replaces vanilla item/XP loss on death with a single recoverable grave marker, Souls-style:
- Die, and nothing is lost (yet). Your dropped items and XP are sealed inside a grave marker — a pale marble cross — placed at your death location, instead of scattering on the ground or vanishing as orbs.
- Only you can open it. Right-click your grave to instantly recover everything — items go straight back into your inventory, XP is restored — no chest UI, no scavenging, no risk of someone else looting it.
- Easy to find. The marker glows faintly and releases drifting soul particles, so it stands out even in the dark.
- One chance to get it back. Die again before reaching your previous grave, and it's destroyed permanently — contents and all. High stakes, just like the games that inspired it.
- Built to actually survive. The grave is bedrock-tier indestructible — creepers, TNT, and mining can't touch it. It also correctly survives edge cases that trip up similar mods: dying underwater, dying in the void, and dying to the same explosion that would otherwise wipe it out.
How it works
1. You die. Your items and any XP you'd normally lose are captured instead of dropping or scattering.
2. A grave marker appears at your death location.
3. Right-click it to recover everything at once.
4. Die again before recovering it, and that grave is gone for good — so get back to it.
