Sophisticated Charging

Sophisticated Charging is an addon for Sophisticated Backpacks that turns a backpack full of batteries into one big power bank for your gear.

Charging Upgrade

• Every battery in the backpack, from any mod that uses Forge Energy, joins one shared energy pool. The backpack's own Battery Upgrade joins too.
• While you carry or wear the backpack, the pool charges your armor and the items in both hands.
• Cables and chargers see the backpack, held or placed, as one big battery: charge it and every battery inside fills up, pull from a placed backpack and they all drain.

See the charge at a glance

• On the backpack itself: the battery on the backpack model shows the whole pool, worn, held or placed.
• In your inventory: a gold bar under the backpack's icon.
• In the tooltip: how much is left ("Charge: 73%").

Advanced Charging Upgrade

• Ten times faster (10,000 FE/t by default).
• Toggles to also charge your whole inventory, your Curios slots and tools stored in the backpack.
• A filter (allow or deny list, by item, mod or tag) for what gets charged.

Safe by design

• The energy stays inside the batteries; the upgrade stores none itself. Dropping, placing or breaking a backpack can't duplicate or lose energy.
• Batteries are recognised by what they do, so tools, armor and devices stored in the backpack are never drained; they get charged instead.
• Creative/infinite batteries are left out automatically. Other backpacks are never charged or drained (no loops).

For server owners and pack makers

• Ban items, whole mods or tags as batteries or as charge targets (modid:item, @modid, #tag), set a maximum battery size to keep "OP" batteries out, change charge rates, or switch the advanced options off server-wide.
• Item tags for datapacks/KubeJS: sophisticatedcharging:banned_batteries, banned_charge_targets, batteries, not_batteries.
• Players can hide the charge bar in sophisticatedcharging-client.toml (showChargeBar = false).

Crafting

The Advanced Charging Upgrade is made from the Charging Upgrade and keeps its settings. One per backpack.

Compatibility

• Curios is optional (Forge/NeoForge). Install on both the server and the clients.
• On Fabric, energy is Team Reborn Energy (E) instead of Forge Energy, and there is no Curios option.
