Dungeon Expansion 2.1
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
## [2.1] - update bug fix
Something to do every session, and a reason to go back into a dungeon you have already cleared.
Gates roll modifiers and hide rooms, the army takes orders, the server keeps records, and a board
of daily and weekly tasks is always waiting. Both client and server were profiled and lightened,
and a full bug hunt closed exploits, stopped rewards from being lost and took load off busy servers.
This release includes everything planned for 0.33.0, which was never published on its own.
### Added
#### Dungeons that are not the same twice
- **Gate modifiers** (`slrGateModifiers`, 35% per gate, `slrGateModifierPercent`): a gate may roll
one or two affixes, shown on the action bar when you look at it, on right-click and as a title
on arrival - Mist (darkness pulses), Haste (the Red Gate's Frenzy, +30% XP), Blood (no natural
regeneration), Hungry Shadows (shadows slowly weaken, never below a third), Fortified (+25%
creature health) and Volatile (elites burst on death, breaking no blocks). The harder the
affixes, the better the loot. Never at God rank, at most one at E rank or on a Red Gate.
- **Secret rooms** (`slrSecretRooms`, 30% per instance): a cracked wall hides a small chamber with a
chest. Open it by hand, with a charged hit or by breaking the wall. The Hunter's Eye relic shows
closed caches within 16 blocks. Placed and later restored block by block, with no structure file.
- **Mimics** (`slrMimics`, 4% of unopened room chests): the chest snaps shut and a creature of that
dungeon bursts out, elite-scaled; its death drops the chest's loot and a bonus.
- **Wounded hunters** (`slrRescues`, 10% per instance): a wounded hunter calls for help. Right-click
and they follow you; bring them to the boss's death or out of the dungeon for System points and
essence. Players and shadows cannot hurt them.
- **Dungeon ratings** (`slrDungeonRatings`): a boss's death grades the run S, A, B or C from time
against a par for the rank, deaths and damage taken, with a summary and an S-rank bonus.
#### The army
- **Orders**, on O and on the Legion page: attack my target, hold here, guard me, return. The order
stays until changed and soldiers called later obey it. With PvP off, soldiers are never sent at
another hunter's shadows or anybody's tamed animals.
- **Generals and Marshals** lift nearby soldiers of the same Monarch: +10% or +15% damage and speed,
the strongest only.
- **Veterans**: a soldier with 100 counted kills earns a title on its name and one perk (lifesteal,
armour toughness, knockback resistance, fire immunity or faster attacks), kept through dismissal.
The first veteran grants the title "Veteran Commander".
- **Expeditions**: `/slrdungeons legion expedition send <shadow> <rank>` sends a soldier away for 5
to 45 minutes; it returns with crystals, essence and sometimes a map fragment, or wounded. Works
while you are offline. Three at once, four from System tier 6. A soldier away is really away: its
body leaves the world, even one standing in a chunk that was unloaded when it was sent.
#### The server
- **Raids** (`slrRaids`, every `slrRaidMinutes`, 120): announced ten minutes ahead; needs three
hunters of level 160 or more. A National or God boss grown by the number of hunters, whose blows
are shared among everyone standing close. Rewards for everyone who fought; title "Raider".
- **Bounties** (`slrBounties`): `/slrdungeons bounty post <target> <points|hand>` puts System points
or the stack in hand on a camp, a boss or a dungeon; the first other hunter to take it is paid,
even offline. Expire and refund after 24 hours; a bounty only leaves the board once its refund has
been paid. Also from the quartermaster's trade screen.
- **Leaderboards** (`slrLeaderboards`): first kills of God bosses and Monarchs, fastest clears and
S-rank clears per dungeon, highest tower floor, raids won, bounties claimed.
`/slrdungeons top <board>`. Being first on a board grants a title.
- **Titles, shown** (`slrTitlesShown`): the worn title stands above your name, in chat and in the
player list, with no client code. `/slrdungeons title`, `title wear <id>`, `title clear`. A new
title is announced, and worn at once if you wear none.
- **Rewards earned while dead are kept**: raid rewards, enemy Monarch spoils, bounty payouts and
refunds that arrive while you are on the death screen wait in your mailbox and are handed over
when you respawn.
#### Always something to do
- **Daily and weekly System quests** (`slrPeriodicQuests`): three daily and two weekly quests drawn
for your rank and System tier from 25 templates, renewed at 04:00 and on Monday at 04:00, even
while offline. One free reroll a day. All dailies done pays a bonus, both weeklies a skill point.
Shown on the System panel's Daily tab beside the existing daily task.
- **Codex rewards** (`slrCodexRewards`): a first clear of each dungeon pays System points, essence
and, from S rank, a chance of a relic you do not own; milestones at 10, 25 and every page, with
titles. Pages cleared before this version are paid on login, in one line.
#### The endgame
- **Enemy Monarchs** (`slrEnemyMonarchs`): the Monarchs of Frost, Beasts, Plagues and Destruction,
God-rank bosses drawn with existing boss models, each with its own kit, sounds, loot, spawn egg
and two or three phases. They are summoned - about every `slrEnemyMonarchMinutes` (240) - near a
complete Shadow Monarch who has cleared all three God dungeons, into an arena built for the fight
and restored after it; never during Jeju, an invasion or a raid, and none of those starts while a
Monarch is fought. Harder than a God: invincible outside dungeons too, wounded only by a complete
Shadow Monarch (4.8-7.2% a blow, `slrEnemyMonarchStrikePercent`), their shadows or the Divine
Blade, and their blows can kill a complete Monarch (`slrEnemyMonarchFloorPercent`, 12% at least).
No soul. A first victory pays a title per Monarch, 2,500 System points and rare items; all four
crown the Sovereign of Shadows.
- **The endless tower** (`slrEndlessTower`): `/slrdungeons tower` takes you and your party up an
endless climb of arenas far out in the overworld - floor 1 at your level, +3 levels a floor, a
boss every tenth floor. [Continue] or [Leave] after each floor; a death ends your run and returns
your items. Rewards grow with the floor, your best floor is kept, `/slrdungeons tower best` shows
the top ten, and floors 10, 25 and 50 grant titles. Invasions, raids and Monarch summons never
pick a hunter who is climbing.
- **Prestige** (`slrPrestige`): once the campaign is done and the System has reached tier 9,
`/slrdungeons prestige` (typed twice to confirm) resets the campaign, skills and Court powers -
never your SoloCraft level, job, titles, relics, army or items - for +3% health and +3% damage
a prestige, up to five, and a title.
### Changed
- **Lighter on the server**: attack shapes, telegraph rings, warded bosses' auras, the System aura
and the Gatekeeper line are sent as one bundled packet per player instead of one per point (a
Cleave cast near three hunters went from about 440 sends to 24); the System tier is worked out
once per check instead of eight times; shadows cache their definition; nothing writes empty data
onto vanilla mobs any more.
- **Lighter on the client**: every addon screen batches its drawing (the System panel sent about 150
draw calls a frame); the world quests, campaign, codex and journal pages no longer rebuild when
the server sends the same page again.
- **More performance work on the server:**
- Clicking a gate swept every dungeon instance each time once the store was nearly full; the
sweep now runs at most once every five seconds for the whole server.
- Divine altars no longer attach saved data to every vanilla display entity they look at.
- The Storm Highway weather check now only runs inside dungeons, instead of for every player in
every dimension.
- Two small per-player records are now cleared when players leave or the server stops.
- **Request limits**: a modified client could ask for the Legion, codex, quest, news and world-quest
pages hundreds of times a second, and spam Legion actions and trades. The server now ignores
requests that come faster than any normal screen sends them.
- Invasions and Jeju never start while a raid is announced or fought, and a raid never starts
during them. Jeju no longer starts during an invasion either.
### Fixed
#### Exploits
- **Endless mana crystals.** The market bought Beast Fangs and Chitin Plates back for more than the
quartermaster sells them for, so crystals could be multiplied forever. The market no longer buys
those two.
- **Logging out wiped a failed run.** Taking damage, calling shadows or running slow in a dungeon,
then relogging, gave a clean run again, so flawless, solo, shadow-only and speed challenges paid
anyway. A run now only starts on entering the dungeon, and a relog cannot reset it.
- **Crown's Toll** paid a skill point for any boss, wherever it fell. It now pays only for a
dungeon's own boss, inside the dungeon - never for tower, raid, invasion or Monarch bosses.
- **Double Dungeon sigils outside dungeons.** Invasion bosses could drop them in the overworld.
Sigils now only drop from a dungeon's boss.
- **Party carry into God dungeons.** Only the player who clicked the gate had their level checked;
everyone in the party now needs the level.
- **Relogging mid-fight cleared the Return Scroll's combat lockout.** The lockout now survives a
relog.
#### Lost progress
- **A boss killed outside a dungeon counted as clearing that dungeon** for quests and daily tasks -
invasion bosses borrow a dungeon's definition.
- **Golden gates could stop appearing for good** once sixteen entered golden gates were never
walked back to. Old records are now forgotten.
- **Escapee camps could stop appearing** on servers with a short simulation distance, because
abandoned camps were never cleared and kept filling the cap. A camp whose last member died far
away could also leave its blocks behind.
#### Dungeons
- **Overworld spawns vanished near far-away coordinates.** Areas used by dungeons in their own
dimension also blocked monster spawns, deleted monsters and changed amethyst at the same
coordinates in the overworld and the Nether. Each dimension now only looks at its own dungeons.
- **Champions healed fully and replayed their fanfare** every time their chunk reloaded.
#### Text
- Quartermaster trade offers showed raw names such as `trade.slrdungeons.beast_fang`.
