# Smooth Terrain 1.0.2
## Changes since 1.0.0
This update combines the water, ice and shader fixes from 1.0.1 with the performance improvements in 1.0.2. For Minecraft 26.3 on Fabric.
### Water, ice and rendering fixes
- Fixed overlapping shoreline surfaces that could cause visible seams and unusual water edges with shaders.
- Improved Iris integration so custom terrain and shoreline surfaces receive the correct block material IDs, fluid flags, light emission and source positions.
- Fixed water connections around rounded ice, packed ice and blue ice.
- Improved contact points between separately rendered materials, including ice/stone and foliage/terrain, to prevent visible openings.
- Preserved the original pixel textures, biome colours and adjustable rounding.
### Performance improvements
- Reduced temporary allocations and unnecessary copying during terrain texture clipping.
- A local benchmark measured approximately **14% less texture-clipping time** and **44% fewer allocated bytes** compared with 1.0.1.
- These figures apply to the texture-clipping step, rather than overall FPS or total memory usage.
- Verified that the optimization preserves the exact geometry, normals, texture tiles and output order of 1.0.1.
### Compatibility and testing
- Passed automated checks with the vanilla renderer, Sodium and Sodium with Iris.
- Development testing covered **Sodium 0.9.3-alpha.1+mc26.3**, **Iris 1.11.7+mc26.3** and **Mellow v3.4.1a**, including resource reload and shader on/off comparisons.
- **Additional playtests by the author confirmed compatibility with multiple shader packs, other Sodium versions and additional mods.** These results cover the combinations tested; individual packs or versions are not listed here.
- Added exact regression comparisons for 12,000 random and boundary faces, plus terrain at 0%, 25%, 50%, 80% and 100% rounding.
### Updating
Replace the older Smooth Terrain JAR with `smoothterrain-26.3-1.0.2.jar`. Existing settings are preserved, and `safeMovement=true` remains the default. Iris, Sodium and shader packs are optional and are not bundled.
