SleepFlow - Smooth Night Skip

Smoothly fast-forwards the night while players sleep, preserving vanilla sleep rules without increasing server TPS.

SleepFlow - Smooth Night Skip

Sleep through the night without an abrupt jump to morning.

SleepFlow replaces Minecraft's instant night skip with a smooth and configurable transition from night to dawn. Once enough players are deeply asleep, the night clock begins moving faster until morning arrives.

Unlike mods that accelerate the entire server or execute hundreds of additional world ticks, SleepFlow keeps the server running at its normal tick rate. This provides a smooth transition without overloading large worlds or heavily modded servers.

Features

  • Smoothly accelerates the night instead of instantly skipping it
  • Keeps the server running at a stable 20 TPS
  • Does not force additional entity, chunk, block, or world ticks
  • Respects the vanilla "playerSleepingPercentage" game rule
  • Waits until players have reached vanilla's deep-sleep state
  • Wakes sleeping players correctly when morning arrives
  • Clears rain and thunderstorms after sleeping, just like vanilla
  • Supports singleplayer, LAN worlds, and dedicated servers
  • Works as a server-side mod without requiring installation on connected clients
  • Has no dependencies other than Minecraft Forge

Server-Friendly Time Acceleration

SleepFlow only accelerates the time-of-day clock.

Furnaces, crops, mobs, redstone, block entities, networking, and other mods continue running at Minecraft's normal tick rate during the transition. They are never force-ticked or recursively updated.

This means that SleepFlow avoids the severe lag, entity desynchronization, and server watchdog problems that can occur when an entire world is simulated dozens of times per server tick.

Vanilla-Compatible Sleeping

SleepFlow preserves Minecraft's normal sleeping rules.

  • Players must remain in bed long enough to reach deep sleep
  • Spectators are ignored when calculating the required player count
  • The "playerSleepingPercentage" game rule determines how many players must sleep
  • Disabling SleepFlow in the configuration restores vanilla instant night skipping
  • Sleep completion remains compatible with Forge's sleep-finished event

Compatibility

  • Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1
  • Minecraft Forge 47.4.10 through 47.x
  • Java 17
  • Singleplayer
  • LAN worlds
  • Dedicated servers

Why SleepFlow?

SleepFlow is designed for players and server owners who want sleeping to feel smoother without turning it into a large gameplay overhaul.

It changes one mechanic, keeps vanilla multiplayer rules intact, requires no client installation on servers, and avoids artificially accelerating the entire game engine.

Hi, I’m Gorunexis, an independent Minecraft mod creator. Structomata is my first published project, with more unrelated mods already in development. If players enjoy it, I hope to share many more of my ideas.
