What's new

For Minecraft 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3. The first release on CurseForge and Modrinth. Everything in 0.2.0 below applies.

Changed

  • Licence: SlashSlabs is now CC BY 4.0 (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International). Earlier releases were all rights reserved. The bundled Polymer libraries stay LGPL-3.0.
  • No code changes from 0.2.0.

0.2.0 (included)

For Minecraft 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, as before.

Added

  • Red sand slab. Red sand rises get a real red sand slab instead of smooth red sandstone.
  • Seven terracotta slabs in the badlands colours: plain, orange, yellow, brown, red, white and light gray. Badlands terracotta rises are now smoothed (vanilla has no terracotta slab, so they were left as full-block steps). Terracotta slabs:
  • are bottom-only: clicking the upper half of a block still places a bottom slab;
  • need a pickaxe to drop, like terracotta.
  • Recipes for every new slab: 3 blocks → 6 slabs, 2 slabs → 1 block, and stonecutter 1 → 2.

Changed

  • Sand rises always get a real sand slab, which looks and sounds like sand. Smooth sandstone looked flat, and it broke and stepped like stone.
  • Bottom slabs are sent to clients as sculk sensor states with an unused redstone power level. Polymer has 150 of these, so bottom slabs are no longer limited to four materials. Top slabs still use the four waxed copper states: dirt, sand, red sand and grass. Top grass slabs show the first palette green in every biome. This is invisible with the resource pack. Without it, bottom slabs appear as sculk sensors instead of copper slabs.
  • Sculk sensor step, hit and fall sounds are now played by the server, as copper's already were, so slabs sound like their real material.
  • The self-test grew from about 400 to about 730 checks. They cover every material, bottom-only placement and tool rules, and the test field now has red sand and terracotta strips.

Removed

  • The sandSlab option. Sand always gets a real slab now, and it no longer costs a grass green. An old config keeps the key harmlessly until the file is rewritten.

Known effects

  • Faint glow. Sculk sensors emit light level 1 on the client. After a slab changes in view, the client may show a barely visible glow next to it until the chunk reloads.

Upgrading from 0.1.0

  • Every slab moves to a different borrowed state, so clients' Voxy LODs of explored terrain show the old look until Voxy rebuilds them.
  • Terrain generated by 0.1.0 keeps its smooth sandstone and smooth red sandstone steps. To convert an area, run /slashslabs purge <radius> and then /slashslabs smooth <radius>.
