Unlisted
A book-based XP storage mod with expandable capacity and automatic XP collection, repair, and level replenishment.

Experience Book

Experience Book lets you store XP in books, expand their capacity with upgradeable pages, and withdraw XP whenever needed. It also offers optional XP collection, automatic Mending, and level refilling.

Storage and Pages

New books start with zero capacity. Hold a book and press G to open its page interface and insert pages.

Each book supports up to 27 pages. Different tiers can be mixed, and their capacities add together. XP is stored in the book—not in its pages. Pages cannot be removed if doing so would leave insufficient capacity for the stored XP.

Page Default Capacity
Leather Page 500 XP
Gilded Page 2,000 XP
Gemstone Page 5,000 XP
Ancient Page 20,000 XP
Star-Infused Page 100,000 XP

With 27 Star-Infused Pages, a book can hold 2,700,000 XP under default settings.

Controls

While holding an Experience Book:

Input Action
Right-click Store one level’s worth of XP, limited by available capacity
Shift + Right-click Store as much of your current XP as possible
Left-click into air Withdraw enough XP to reach the next level, or all remaining XP if insufficient
Shift + Left-click into air Withdraw all stored XP
G Open the page interface
Shift + G Open automation settings

The interface key can be changed in the controls menu.

To withdraw XP, left-click into air without targeting a block or entity. Right-clicking with the book takes priority over normal block interaction.

Automation

All three features are configured separately for each book and are disabled by default. Once enabled, they also work while the book is in your inventory or offhand.

  • Automatic XP Collection: Picked-up XP goes into the book first. Any overflow follows normal vanilla behavior.
  • Automatic Mending: Every second, stored XP repairs damaged items with the Mending enchantment in your hotbar, inventory, offhand, and armor slots.
  • Automatic Level Refilling: After Mending, remaining stored XP replenishes your level toward a chosen target. If the book does not contain enough XP, it provides as much as possible.

Enchanting and Anvils

A book held in either hand can pay XP costs at vanilla enchanting tables and anvils.

If both hands hold books, the book containing more XP is selected. XP from multiple books is not combined, and insufficient stored XP cannot be supplemented with player XP.

Costs are calculated using the total XP equivalent of the displayed level, rather than vanilla enchanting’s usual level deduction. For example, a displayed level-30 option costs 1,395 stored XP, rather than deducting only three player levels.

Lapis costs, the anvil’s “Too Expensive!” restriction, and free use in Creative mode remain unchanged. If no book is held, normal vanilla XP payment applies.

Third-party modded XP systems are not guaranteed to be supported.

Ownership and Administration

Books record their first user as the owner and receive a unique ID for tracking and recovery.

Ownership does not restrict other players from using the book. Giving a book to another player does not automatically change its recorded owner.

Administrator Command

/expbook list <player name or UUID>

Example:

/expbook list Steve

This command requires an in-game administrator with permission level 2 or higher and cannot be executed directly from the server console.

It accepts an online player’s name, a recorded owner’s name, or a UUID, and opens a management interface for inspecting registered books, retrieving them, or issuing replacements.

Configuration

The server configuration file is located inside the world folder:

serverconfig/skylasliver_expbook-server.toml

It controls global automation permissions, default and maximum target levels, and page capacities. Server settings synchronize to clients and take priority over individual book settings.

Default Configuration

[automation]
allowCollection = true
allowMending = true
allowLevelPump = true
defaultTargetLevel = 30
maxTargetLevel = 100

[pageCapacity]
leather = 500
gold = 2000
diamond = 5000
netherite = 20000
nether_star = 100000

Configuration Options

  • allowCollection: Allows automatic XP collection.
  • allowMending: Allows automatic Mending.
  • allowLevelPump: Allows automatic level refilling.
  • defaultTargetLevel: Sets the default target level for refilling.
  • maxTargetLevel: Sets the maximum selectable target level.
  • pageCapacity: Sets the capacity of each page tier in XP points, not levels.

Allowing a feature globally does not enable it automatically. Players must also enable that feature in each book’s automation settings.
