Improved functionality (moving all available items before emitting signal instead of emitting signal after being unable to move a single item), redstone control and change-able input/output.
next goal: create advanced versions with a GUI that lets you change redstone output, transfer rate, filter items and the option to "hold carts" as they pass by and to give them a push the in the direction they were traveling once done loading/unloading.
