Simplified Guardians is a lightweight visual overhaul for Guardians and Elder Guardians, replacing the vanilla model with a cleaner, simplified version designed to better match Minecraft's aesthetic.
These new models come with refreshed textures, new laser effects, fixes for longstanding rendering issues, and is made to be configurable.
Features
- New models for the Guardian and Elder Guardian, simplified for a blocky style.
- A new high-resolution Elder Guardian texture, to better fit the larger entity.
- A glowing eye effect during the laser charging.
- Configuration options for the majority of changes.
- Fixes MC-119372, preventing Guardians and Elder Guardians from visually moving outside of their hitbox when rotating up or down.
Resource Pack Compatibility
This mod replaces the vanilla Guardian and Elder Guardian models, textures, and rendering, making existing resource packs not compatible with it.
Resource packs can be made to support Simplified Guardians, but the textures must be fit specifically for the models of this mod.
FAQ
Q: Will you port this mod past 1.12 / When will it be on [newer version]
A: I currently do not have any plans to port the mod, so make no plans for it. I am not outright opposed to it, but am busy perpetually with various projects, and porting will be a vast undertaking.
Q: Why is this not just a Resource Pack?
A: Resource Packs do not support full replacement of entity models in 1.12 (nor any current version of Minecraft).
While Optifine may include support for changing Entity Models, the 1.12.2 version does not support replacing the Elder Guardian's model. Along with that, additional tweaks and changes to the laser charging required additional model layers to be added.
