SimpleOptimizer

SimpleOptimizer is a performance and monitoring mod for Minecraft Forge 1.20.1, designed especially for large modpacks and lower-end PCs.

Instead of focusing only on FPS, SimpleOptimizer also monitors memory usage, server tick performance, dropped items and chunk loading, helping Minecraft stay smoother during long gameplay sessions.

Beta: SimpleOptimizer is still under active development. Core optimization and monitoring features are functional, but more performance systems are planned for future versions.

🚀 Performance Profiles

SimpleOptimizer includes four performance profiles that can be changed instantly:

• HIGH — Higher visual quality while keeping performance optimizations active.
• MEDIUM — Balanced quality and performance.
• LOW — Reduced settings for weaker computers.
• ULTRA LOW — Designed for very low-end PCs and heavy modpacks.

Press F8 to switch between profiles.

The mod can automatically adjust settings such as render distance and other performance-related options depending on the selected profile.

🧠 Leak Guardian

SimpleOptimizer includes Leak Guardian, a memory monitoring system designed to detect suspicious memory growth.

It monitors things such as:

• JVM heap usage
• Memory retained after garbage collection
• Memory growth trends
• GC recovery
• Observation time
• Evidence confidence
• Possible memory leak behavior

Leak Guardian does not immediately assume that high RAM usage is a memory leak.

It waits for enough evidence before considering a leak confirmed, helping reduce false positives when:

• exploring new chunks;
• changing dimensions;
• loading a large modpack;
• spawning many entities;
• or generating terrain.

to see detailed Leak Guardian information.

📦 Item Optimizer

Large amounts of dropped items can heavily affect server performance.

SimpleOptimizer periodically searches for compatible nearby dropped items and safely merges them into larger stacks.

This can significantly reduce the number of item entities without simply deleting them.

Use:

/simpleoptimizer items

to check Item Optimizer statistics.

🌍 Chunk Loading Optimization

SimpleOptimizer includes an aggressive chunk loading system designed to make terrain appear faster while travelling.

The system gradually increases the active render distance toward the selected profile's target instead of applying everything at once.

This is especially useful when:

• flying;
• travelling quickly;
• exploring new terrain;
• or using world-generation mods.

📊 Performance HUD

SimpleOptimizer includes an optional real-time HUD displaying useful information such as:

• FPS
• RAM usage
• Leak Guardian score
• Loaded chunks
• Render distance
• Pending chunks
• Current optimization profile

Controls:

F8  - Change performance profile
F9  - Show / hide the HUD
F10 - Move the HUD

The HUD can be moved to avoid conflicts with minimaps and other interface mods.

⚙️ Server Performance Monitoring

SimpleOptimizer can also monitor the integrated or dedicated server.

Use:

/simpleoptimizer status

to see information including:

• TPS
• MSPT
• JVM heap usage
• Leak Guardian status
• Item Optimizer statistics

This can help identify whether lag is caused by rendering or by the server simulation itself.

🖥️ Built for Modpacks

SimpleOptimizer is being developed with large Forge modpacks in mind.

It is designed to work alongside popular optimization mods instead of trying to replace every optimization they provide.

Testing has included modpacks using mods such as:

• Xaero's Minimap / World Map
• and many gameplay/content mods

🧪 Current Beta Status

The current version has been tested in:

• Overworld
• Nether
• The End
• heavily modded singleplayer worlds
• integrated server environments
• high entity counts
• long-distance chunk exploration

Because this is still a Beta, backups are recommended before using it in important worlds or servers.
