# Simple Pleasures Friendship 1.19.7 — Living Villagers
Changes since 1.18.0. For Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge.
## Villages feel more alive
- Villagers occasionally speak through short, camera-facing overhead dialogue, with lines reflecting personality, friendship, weather, time, profession and nearby player activities.
- Added persistent memories of being cured, successful raid defence, loved gifts and returning friends. Villagers can refer to these experiences in later dialogue.
- Nearby villagers can occasionally exchange a few words with each other while continuing their normal activities.
- Ambient dialogue can begin within 12 blocks and lasts approximately 5.8 seconds, including a smooth fade. Shared cooldowns help prevent several villagers talking at once.
- Improved overhead text visibility, wrapping and placement near walls. Request markers move above a speaking villager; overlapping dialogue can draw in front of another villager's marker while still respecting walls.
## Friendship and gifts
- Villagers now have five Loved, five Liked and five Disliked preferences. Removed the Hated category.
- Existing villagers retain their Loved, Liked and Disliked lists. Old Hated preferences and their discoveries are removed rather than merged into Disliked. Hearts and relationship history are preserved.
- Occasional conversation hints reveal a villager's actual saved gift preferences. Hints are uncommon, with a three-Minecraft-day minimum between hints from the same villager to the same player.
- Chat names use profession colours to match the request tracker.
## Requests and friendship panel
- Added more personal request explanations, with tailored wording for all thirteen professions, item-specific reasons where appropriate and personality-based responses.
- Added compact speech bubbles to the friendship panel.
- Added Request and Social tabs when a villager has an active request. Social shows gift preferences and the latest dialogue line sent to that player in chat.
- Refined panel width, position, spacing and button hitboxes, and removed the duplicate Request heading.
- Improved request-marker rendering to avoid entity-material shader effects.
## Trusted friends and compatibility
- With the optional Thief integration, fully trusted villagers can forgive eligible witnessed chest and owned-bed interactions when every witness has at least ten hearts toward the player.
- Mixed or untrusted witnesses and unrelated crimes retain normal consequences. Vanilla sleep requirements and occupied beds remain unchanged.
- Added personality-based reactions to trusted bed and chest interactions.
- Added settings for ambient dialogue, its frequency and viewing distance, villager conversations, memories and trusted-friend exceptions.
- No new required runtime dependencies.
## Updating
Use the same mod version on client and server. Existing friendship saves are supported; note the removal of old Hated preferences above. Existing configuration values are retained, so older settings may differ from the new defaults.
