To craft a bamboo sabre you will need to put a stick in the bottom-middle grid in a crafting table, on top of that you will have to put a bamboo on top of another bamboo. Like this:

The sabre deals 2 damage, has 0.8 attack speed and 68 durability.

The sabre also works like a shield, cancelling any damage dealt to you while holding right-click.

The sabre is automatically enchanted with knockback III.
