You can make Mortar to make salt.
Use Salty Plants Water bottles and use Mortar to make Salt bits (5).(You can find Salty Plants naturaly spawning.)
From 9 salt bits you can make salt with salt you can craft Salt steak. (Needs Steak)
When crafting salty bits Water bottle disappears.
