An AI companion that truly lives in your Minecraft world.

Shabao AI Companion is a Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 that adds an intelligent AI companion NPC powered by OpenAI-compatible language models.

Unlike a simple chatbot, your companion exists as a real entity in the world. It can follow you, explore, fight hostile mobs, build structures, remember past events, interact with the environment, and make multi-step decisions on its own.

🏗️ AI Building

Ask your companion to build using natural language.

For example:

• "Build a 15×15 three-story house here."

• "Flatten the terrain first."

• "Add stairs between the floors."

• "Build a small base with a door and windows."

The mod includes structured building tools for floors, walls, boxes, doors, stairs, ladders, clearing terrain, and more.

A preview can be displayed before construction begins.

🌍 Exploration & Navigation

The companion can explore the world and help locate structures such as:

• Villages

• Strongholds

• Ocean monuments

• Woodland mansions

• Ancient cities

• Trial chambers

• Ruined portals

It can also navigate toward destinations and move between areas of a building.

💬 Natural Conversation

Talk to your AI companion directly through Minecraft chat.

With direct chat mode enabled, normal chat messages can be sent to the AI automatically.

The companion keeps conversation history and can remember important information across sessions.

🎙️ Voice Interaction

Optional speech recognition and text-to-speech support allows you to talk to your companion using your voice.

Hold V to speak, release it to send the recording, and the companion can answer using synthesized speech.

💾 Long-Term Memory

The AI includes several forms of persistent memory:

• Conversation history

• Building memory

• Important event memory

• Saved locations and building information

This allows the companion to remember previous interactions and recall past events.

Shabao AI is designed to feel like a long-term companion rather than a temporary assistant.

Relationship progression and companion interactions are supported, and interaction permissions can be configured by the player.

🎨 Customizable Character

You can customize your companion with:

• AI personality and behavior settings

🛡️ Safety Controls

Automatic world modification includes several safety restrictions.

The mod provides:

• Building size limits

• Overwrite confirmation

• Command whitelisting

• Restricted administrative commands

• Building validation

• Block placement checks

• Survival-mode building restrictions

Automatic building in Survival Mode is disabled by default.

🤖 Bring Your Own AI Model

Shabao AI Companion supports OpenAI-compatible API endpoints.

You can configure your own:

• API Base URL

• API Key

• Model

• Reasoning effort

This makes it possible to use many compatible AI providers and models.

Your API key is stored locally in the mod configuration and should never be shared publicly.
