7 Days to Live is shaped by the aftermath of a catastrophic event triggered when Darien, a former astronaut, returned from a classified lunar mission and secretly brought Omnimite to Earth without authorisation. Upon returning from the mission, Darien 'retires' in the forest to avoid being executed for his crimes. But he stays close to the facility just in case he needed to contact the STAR GAZERS.

Continuing about the Omnimite, this substance reacted violently with the atmosphere, causing the collapse that destroyed Center 13. Centre 13 is a hidden research facility studying an ancient, indestructible entity known as the Heart of God. The Heart of God exists partially outside known reality, but there is not much information about it yet. The collapse created the Corruption, a spreading anomaly that changes the environment and could infects living beings. This could be told by Ren. Ren was a dying researcher found within the Corruption; he confirms that he and his team worked at Center 13 and perished during the disaster, which was Darien bringing the Omnimite.

Relena, an isolated figure deep in the woods, displays altered behavior and anomalous abilities, suggesting she has been affected by the Corruption or the facility’s experiments. Darien allegedly survived seven days in the forest while being watched by human figures with military precision, implying that the forest is monitored and that the STAR GAZERS — an organization referenced by Darien and multiple NPCs — remain active. The game’s events take place in the aftermath of this collapse, with the player navigating the corrupted forest surrounding the sealed remains of Center 13.

With notes you can find around the map you can find pieces of lore. The notes prove useful as because of them we now know that people actually used to live here to have peace and quiet. And it also explains why the batteries are missing from the Strong Radio.
