What's new
# 2.1.5
## 🍂 Leaves and Saplings
- The following Leaves blocks now have a separate Autumnal variant:
- Oak
- Birch
- Black Pine (Spruce)
- Dark Cedar (Dark Oak)
- Keyaki (Acacia)
- Kiso Cypress (Jungle)
- Mangrove
- They use the exact same textures and loot table as their vanilla counterpart but adopt a different biome colormap.
- Since they are a modded block, I get to alter the color they use on vanilla maps. So they'll appear orange/red/yellow on maps instead of regular green.
- For those using BSL: I am providing the block.properties file in the resource channel on my Discord for you to drop into the BSL shaders folder so all my modded leaves and other foliage will be treated as such by the shader pack.
- This may cause some issues with any current worlds containing autumnal biomes. If you have a world with a nice house near the fall leaves, enable the built-in resource pack that reverts the vanilla leaf colors back to 2.1.4.
- Weeping Willow Leaves textures have been reworked to better portray the wisteria theme instead of just the Cherry Leaves with the brightness cranked up.
- However, since I am a fan of the Blossom Leaves, I've added the Weeping Blossom Leaves as its own block that adopts the textures of the previous Weeping Willow Leaves. I've also improved its texture.
- All saplings will grow with their assigned leaves depending on biome season type.
- While I was at it, I made the Dark Cedar Sapling (Dark Oak Sapling) grow into its own tree using a single sapling.

## 🎨 New GUI Textures
- Decided to rework the GUI textures from the "vanilla dark mode version" (Which was really just a personal preference of mine I've forced onto y'all) and closer to the Japanese Thematic.
- Made compatible for the following mod GUIs:
- Inventory Next
- Horseman
- Trash Slot
- Just Enough Items
- Certain item textures that would otherwise blend in with the color of the new GUI have their sprites slightly altered for clarity.

## ⚔️ Tough Love
- I've come to realize through feedback and personal playtests that this mod was too easy for my Viltrumite playerbase. Mostly around the parry system and the enemies that utilize it. Will be shipping out the following nerfs to make the journey more challenging and meaningful.
### Posture Nerfs
- Enemy max posture health was usually scaled off their max health but had a cap which was way too low; buffing that shit.
- Weapons in general did way too much posture damage, nerfing that shit.
- Perfect parries now only deflect 90% of posture damage instead of 100%.
- Posture regen is slower depending on depleted hunger bars.
- Apparently this whole time, Breaking Player posture only broke you out of a blocking formation for one tick, instead of locking you out of blocking for a few seconds. Fixing that shit.
### Samurai Aggression
- Later game samurai mobs are much more aggressive with their attacks and defense.
- Elite Mobs are now more aggressive than their regular variant.
### Warlord Boss
- The aura this fight had did not match the actual fight difficulty at all. After a few hours of doomscrolling Sigma phonk edits, the Warlord is now MUCH tankier and aggressive.
### Kunai Changes
- Effect durations for Slowness, Poison, and Weakness Kunai have been drastically reduced.
- Kunai now only stack to 16.
- Charge rate for throwing Kunai has been shortened massively to feel more mobile.
- Changes to the recipes that now use various types of flowers and poisons.
### Other
- Ramie grows less fast lol
- Tanto stealth kill cooldown is varied by weapon tier.

## 🌫️ Mist Weather
- When I originally made the mist weather event, I tried to have it actually lower the render distance instead of shoving stupid ass particles in your face, but I ran into issues with shaders and Distant Horizons, so I didn't implement it. But now that I'm less selfish, I've brought it back and made it work for Distant Horizons.
- Regular fog mode will commence by default and work properly if you do not have Distant Horizons or Shaders.
- If you do have Distant Horizons, go to the Sengoku Config in the Mod Menu and enable the "Distant Horizons Fog Mode" under the VISUALS tab.
- However, if you're using shaders like me, you might be shit out of luck. Don't enable DH mode if you are using shaders.
- To cope with not being able to use this feature, I made the fog particles fade out once you get close to them so you're not being slapped in the face when running through them.
- This whole thing is kind of a mess, but this should be a net positive for non-shader users.
- Optimized the Volumetric Mist Particles and switched the default setting to enabled.
---
## 🦋 Butterflies and Firefly Particles
- Decided to add some butterflies after a visit to a Butterfly sanctuary recently.
- Come in 4 different colors and spawn during the day, more so around flowers.
- Also included a moth for nighttime.
- Their floating direction is a bit lopsided for now; I'm aware of this, so do not report.
- Added fireflies while I was at it.
- Spawn at night in certain biomes.
---
## 🌿 Biomes
### Serotinal Biomes
- My obsession with sensible biome transitions continues. I've added a couple of new biomes that will serve as bridges from summertime biomes to fall-time biomes. Wouldn't hurt to add, especially with September around the corner.
- Will spawn in temperatures 0.2/0.4
- Biomes Include:
- Serotinal Plains
- Serotinal Forest
- Serotinal Birch Forest
- Serotinal Bamboo Forest
- Silver Grass Fields and Old Growth Pine Taiga (Now renamed to Serotinal Taiga) will be listed as Serotinal Biomes.
- Green > Yellow > Orange should be a much more natural leaf color shift than Green > Orange.
- Remember when this mod was about samurai?
### New Biomes
- **Autumnal Dark Forest** — Realized the tall trees of the Autumnal Hotsprings look better when it has an actual forest of tall trees to accompany it.
- **Marshlands** — I know the Mangrove Swamp went under this exact name, but I reverted that to introduce this one. Will serve as a transition bridge between Mangrove Swamps and other Autumnal Biomes with rich warm colors. Uses the minecraft:eroded_badlands biome ID. Does not come with the hardcoded Bryce Canyon formations.
### Other Biome Changes
- Frozen Oceans and Deep Frozen Oceans are back! Managed to remove the hardcoded Antarctic-like glaciers that didn't fit the theme.
- Since minecraft:frozen_ocean, minecraft:deep_frozen_ocean and minecraft:eroded_badlands are reintroduced, the "Discover All Biomes" vanilla advancement is now possible again.
- Changes to the Autumnal Forest to be more subtle and less crowded.
- Koyo Forests should be less rare now.
- Mangrove Swamp trees now have more visible roots.
- Made the "Mangrove Roots" texture actually match the Mangrove Log.
- Optimized the Forest and Suisho Caves biomes so world gen should be much faster now.
- A lot of autumnal trees will now use the new autumnal leaves.
- Tightened temperature requirements for Suisho and Limestone Caves.
- Spooky ambient fog spawns in the Deep Dark.
- Glowstone now spawns in Suisho Caves.
---
## 🏯 Structures
- Think I finally managed to balance the spawn frequencies of the overworld fortresses and castles.
- Villages no longer spawn near Burnt Plains.
- Made Mineshafts a bit more elaborate.
- Added some new rooms.
- Spiced up the decor to be more randomized.
- Now home to numerous Dorotabo who fell victim to Feudal Slave Wage.
- Bandit Camps are more common but have a tiny variant.
- Both Bandit and Samurai Outposts come in different varieties.
- Warlord Castle tweaks.
---
## 🔧 Misc Changes
- Skeletons that spawn with shields now carry on the Blocking Goal the samurai mobs use.
- Visuals of blocked attacks will be different since they're using wooden shields.
- Skeletons will have low posture health.
- Sarugami will also adopt the Blocking Goal if a weapon is held.
- Perfect Parries now grant an immense attack speed boost for a single attack.
- Ashigaru stopped being idiots and will actually try to snipe you from a distance instead of running up to you.
- Sleeping in a Goza Mat now sets your spawn point without erasing your last regular bed's spawn. So if the Goza Mat is destroyed or otherwise unavailable, you'll fall back to your regular bed instead of the world spawn.
- Tea Haste buff lasts 3 minutes instead of 10 seconds.
- We deserve nice things.
- Villagers can sleep on Goza Mats.
- Wooden Weapons no longer use the "Sekiro Steel weapon parry" sound and instead use the basic wooden shield sound.
- Ronin, Samurai, Warlord, Goryo, etc now use their own model separate from the Vindicator to simplify the model and thus optimize framerate when many are present.
- Shides are much more effective.
- Mobs that flee from shides run super far so they don't fall in a loop of walking back.
- If you feel like this is causing tick lag, turn it off in the mod menu config.
- Hakushika (Camels) now use the horse step sound that actually matches its movement.
- Buffed attack speed for the Mace for those using the Better Combat Mod.
- Nerfed the amount of Shikkui you get from the Clay+Graveled Limestone recipe, but made the Shikkui ore yield more Shikkui.
- Made offhand consumables override weapon blocking.
- Will allow you to use wind charges with the mace again.
- Outlaw Samurai (Vindicators) now actually use the modded attack goal like the other Samurai, so it feels less clunky.
- Music transitions for Burnt Ruins and Deep Dark are much more subtle now so you won't constantly be switching back by moving 1 block.
- Added EMF support for the Macaque so it has proper FreshAnimations-type movement like the other mobs.
- This, however, removes its grooming animation; I'll look into this in the future.
- Maikubi no longer uses the vanilla Wither death sound.
- Maikubi no longer drops blaze rods.
- Ubagabi (Blaze) only drops blaze rods in Yomi (Nether).
- Trapped a monkey under a mountain for 500 years for pissing on my hand.
- Birds no longer follow random mobs so they don't get stuck in rivers.
- Kaichigo Shells can be found in Shrine Chests.
- Post Warlord Gashadokuro spawns don't have a boss bar.
- Shinobi have a sound/particle indicator when they're about to throw a kunai.
- Shinobi will occasionally throw smoke bombs.
- Made the Smite enchantment back to focus undead mobs instead of all yokai.
- Updated Russian Translations — Credit to sssooo2

## 🌸 New Biome: Prevernal Meadow
- Semi-snowy version of the Meadows/Plains.
- Figured while I messed with the Summer > Autumn biomes, I'd mess with the Winter > Spring biomes.
- This biome will sit along the new Prevernal biome category along with Windswept Forest (Now Prevernal Forest) and Windswept Hills (Now Prevernal Bamboo Grove).
- All "prevernal" biomes have been rearranged in the biome spawns to better match their neighboring biomes.
- Made the Winter > Spring transitions even smoother.
---
## 🏯 Structures
- All Overworld Structure Sets now use a frequency reduction system so they won't be as overabundant as before.
- Large Surface Mineshaft spawns in more mountainous areas.
---
## 🔧 Misc
- Updated Russian Translations
- Shide recipe now requires Lapis Lazuli.
- Certain Trees bleed into other biomes to make transitions feel smoother.
---
## ⚠️ Important
- Do not use the latest version of Sodium; it has beef with Polytone, which is a dependency for this mod. I am not a Polytone dev, so I can't do anything about it.
- Do not use the newer versions of Polytone; they done fucked up my bamboo models.
- If you are using Better Combat and the animations aren't working, use `/tag @p remove bettercombat_disabled` to re-enable Better Combat. If you noticed it stopped working again after restarting the client, let me know.
