SecondChance

Cheat death with a configurable chance (10% by default): survive lethal damage, heal to full, and teleport to your spawn. A probabilistic invisible Totem of Undying. No dependencies.

When death comes for you... sometimes it misses. SecondChance gives every player a configurable chance (10% by default) to cheat lethal damage: instead of dying, you survive, get fully healed, your fire/drowning is cleared, and you're teleported back to your last bed or respawn anchor — with a totem sound, animation, and an ominous message. A probabilistic, invisible Totem of Undying.

⚡ How it works

Intercepts lethal damage via Forge's death event — pure Java, no datapack tricks

On success: survive, heal to full, extinguish fire/drowning, teleport to your spawn point (or world spawn if you have none)

On failure, you die normally — no interference with vanilla mechanics

Like real totems, it won't trigger on /kill or void death

🔧 Fully configurable via config/secondchancevanilla-common.toml — no jar editing needed:

Rescue chance

Teleport on/off

Totem effects (sound + animation) on/off

Custom rescue message

✅ Zero mod dependencies — runs on Forge 1.20.1 alone. No Incapacitated, no KubeJS, no FTB required.

Adds tension-breaking moments of mercy to hardcore and horror packs. Built for the DoomForest horror modpack.

Looking for the Incapacitated integration instead? Check out SecondChance (Incapacitated).
