Scythes Vanilla v1.5.7 - 1.21.1 - NeoForge
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
1.5.7
New
- Scythe Upgrade: a new smithing template to upgrade scythes.
- Overworld chests (10%): dungeons, mineshafts, desert and jungle temples, strongholds, woodland mansions, village weaponsmiths and buried treasure.
- Also (5%) in pillager outposts, shipwrecks, big ocean ruins, igloos, ruined portals and village toolsmith and armorer chests.
- Ominous vaults in Trial Chambers (15%).
- Expert Weaponsmiths sell it for 16 emeralds.
- It can be duplicated in the crafting table like vanilla templates: 1 Scythe Upgrade + 2 iron ingots + 5 diamonds + 1 cobbled deepslate = 2 Scythe Upgrades.
- Smithing table upgrades (enchantments and souls are kept):
- Iron scythe + diamond + Scythe Upgrade = diamond scythe.
- Diamond scythe + netherite ingot + Scythe Upgrade or Netherite Upgrade template = netherite scythe.
- Heavy Scythe: much more damage than netherite (12.5) but very slow (0.6), and it needs both hands. It disables shields for 5 seconds like an axe and loses 2 durability per hit. Smithing: netherite scythe + heavy core + Scythe Upgrade.
- Seismic Slam: with Reaper's Step, the Heavy Scythe leaps (or dives) and, on landing, hits and knocks back everything around you. The higher you fall, the harder it hits. Like the mace, it only saves you from fall damage when the shockwave hits something.
- New enchantment — Withering (I–II): melee hits can inflict Wither. Incompatible with Fire Aspect.
- New enchantment — Reaping (I): breaking a fully grown crop also harvests the grown crops around it (3×3) and replants them. Works with Fortune; sneak to break a single crop.
- Journeyman Farmers sell an iron scythe with Reaping for 12 emeralds.
- Reaping books can be found in village house chests (5%).
- New curse — Curse of the Reaper: while you hold the scythe you don't regenerate health from food. Only found on scythes in chests.
- Soul Counter: each scythe shows in its tooltip how many souls it has reaped. Combining two scythes in an anvil or grindstone adds up the souls of both. New challenge: A Hundred Souls.
- Original sounds made for the mod: hard, metallic cuts for the sweep, the dash and the Seismic Slam; dark sounds for Eclipse and Withering; soul whispers for Soul Devourer and Grim Harvest (Grim Harvest whispers while the effect lasts, and only you hear it).
- Eclipse tooltip: scythes with Eclipse show whether the bonus is active right now.
- Smelting and fuel: iron, golden and copper scythes smelt into nuggets in a furnace or blast furnace (copper only in 26.3). The wooden scythe works as furnace fuel.
- New loot:
- End City chests: enchanted diamond scythe.
- Ominous vaults: enchanted diamond scythe and Reaper's Step book (II–III).
- Buried treasure: iron scythe.
- New trade: Novice Weaponsmiths sell a plain iron scythe for 3 emeralds.
- Combat tab: scythes also appear in the creative Combat tab, right after the netherite sword.
- Compatibility: other mods recognize scythes as melee weapons (c:tools/melee_weapon tag).
Changes
- Reaper's Step:
- Only works with the scythe in your main hand.
- No longer activates while riding, flying with elytra or in water.
- With a shield in your off-hand, right-click blocks as usual; sneak + right-click dashes.
- Recharges in 1.5 seconds at every level; higher levels only deal more damage.
- Soul Devourer: only heals when you kill a monster, with a 40% / 60% / 80% chance depending on the level.
- Grim Harvest: triggers 30% / 50% / 70% of the time.
- Enchanting table: Soul Devourer and Grim Harvest show up less (like Sharpness), and Eclipse even less (like Smite).
- Wither skeletons holding a netherite scythe are now much rarer, about as rare as a zombie with diamond armor.
- Soul Collector now also requires the Heavy Scythe.
Fixes
- Reaper's Step no longer breaks the scythe: it won't activate with 1 durability left.
- Fabric 26.3: scythes now mine like swords (fast cobwebs, instant bamboo, durability when breaking blocks, no block breaking in creative).
